  • Great Politicians

I know people are going to try to mod in Great Military Leaders, but what about Great Politicians or Great Statesmen? Politician points can be generated by your capital, courthouses, and other applicable city improvements (does the Forbidden Palace return?) The Great Politician could be set in a city and add happiness (in the sense the population is rallied and feel their leaders are doing wonderfully), or they could create a national wonder, the Great Speech, that produces nation-wide happiness. Winston Churchill (my favorite 20th century statesman) could be one, instead of being in the Great Scientist list.

Not entirely realistic, but I've been thinking how there are no specialists who affect happiness, like the old entertainers. Just thinking...

Great Politicians? You actually want competition to run *your* civ?

Consider them your spokesmen. They present what you're doing in such a positive light it rallies your population, makes them happier, and reduces any war weariness.

                I been thinking about this

you got "Great sounding " politicians..

then you have great "working" politicians

it would be neat but probably too hard to have politicians like militaryt leaders become available and then in addition have an "ANTI-Politician" something similiar to that of a Tabloid reporter be able to "plant" indeas in the civ the politician is representing..like "he's on the take" "he likes page boyz" or hes going to be indicted"

but maube that would be too much

I have seen in other games where a unit care whisper and get a civ worried or concerned

Just thought it would be very cool

Trust me, you don't want a Politicians in your civ game, because they dont want one leader like you run your civ, they seek your death, they seek to rule civ themself without you, they seek your wife in your bed, Ok Just kidding!

Think "Great Statesman" if that helps digest the concept. Think Abe Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, Churchill, Jefferson, etc.

I also tend to think any happiness boost should be fairly large, but temporary (a few turns). It could be interesting to have a Great Statesman appear in the middle of a war, when your populace's support is slackening - just make a Great Speech, and it boosts your nation's happiness by x per city for, say, 10 turns, then produces lots of culture (& maybe 1 happy pop in city in which Speech is said) thereafter.

How's this as a template for a Great Statesman... Courthouses and similar improvements increase Great Statesman GPPs. A Great Statesman can:

                        1) Trigger a Golden Age (with other GPs)
                        2) Settle in a city to eliminate city maintenance costs (or bring to parity with the capital)
                        3) Create a Regional Capital (give it a better name, of course) that reduces maintenance costs for it and nearby cities (like a Forbidden Palace)
                        4) Accelerate the discovery of a civics-related technology

No, I think it's better that's way, Great Politicians should casue unhappy to people due Great Politicians took people's hard earn money or unfair tax for themself, I mean look at politicians has great house, limo car, ect... where money come from? oh it's come from our tax money, it's piss me off. Here's anther way, if you have Great Politicians not only cause low-income people unhappy but also took your country tax for themself, so you lost gold per turn due their greeie for money. P.S.
Great Politician is great to make your low-income people suffler at least.
