Maybe MM and 'epic' were unluckily mentioned in a preview in the same paragraph. Or the author just didn't have no clue what he was talking about. Which brings us back to the theory above.

Almost certainly true that this was an error of some kind. According to what I have read-from anyone who knows what they are talking about-is that micromanagement has been substantially reduced-particularly in the late game. No pollution to clean up, no corruption to have to get overly worried about, the ability to get ahead with fewer, more specialised cities. The ability to do well with fewer, more specialised units. Grouped movement and rallying points, cities which become increasingly more unproductive due to unhappiness, rather than rioting all the time (thus requiring MM), the ability to manage every element of your nation from the main interface etc etc. I am sure you get the idea that, in Civ4, Epic will mean anything BUT micromanagement-but will be a game worth playing from 4000BC to 2050AD (rather than me quitting around the Industrial age )

Given that others have felt free to speak, I will just say that epic is very cool. It may become my favoured game format. I don't have to divulge anything by observing that if the above discussed information is true, that things take longer, then each decision will have more meaning.(\__/)

I do remember reading somewhere about epic, and about the ability to do more management. I think Lancer is correct, the two were somehow indirectly tied. I'm not sure that is the intent, however. I don't know where, though, so my evidence isn't all that good. Many are cold, but few are frozen. No more durrian, please. On On!

If anything is going to increase the amount of mm you have to deal with in a turn, it is an increase in map size, not the number of turns in a game.To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.
