moving specific amounts of goods

Ok. So I kinda feel stupid. I'm playing vanilla (first game) and I'm trying to move 80 tools from one city to another. I've tried both a wagon train and a caravel, but when ever I move the goods, it just moves all 100 tools from the city storage to the transportation unit. How do I only move a certain amount of goods?

I've tried messing with the automated trade (exports/imports) but it doesn't seem to make since to me.

Any help would be awesome.

No need to feel stupid!

I play col. all my life, and still cannot remember on top of my hand if you do it holding down the control or the shift key.

So try again to move the tools into the wagon train by pressing control. If that doesn't work try shift.

You will get a box, where you could type the number of tools, you would like to transport. XD

One thing this game does not have: an intuitive interface!

How many people have been stunned to learn that you can buy units in Europe? OK, it doesn't have a decent tutorial either...and how many people actually RTFM?
