My wife just gave me the game for a belated birthday present(as I spent my BDay in Afghanistan), and although I haven't started a SP game yet as I'm still majorly jet lagged, I did check out the credits. It seems that the test group was very small compared to the Civ4 expansions, and although I don't know how large an internal test team there was, the logical conclusion is that not only would the MP testing have been limited but testing of all aspects of the game would have be more limited than was done with the Civ4 XP's, so it's not a surprise that there are going to be bugs and balance issues especially since bugs are easier to fine but game balance is time intensive to get right.

      No, a fantasy TBS.

I am really looking forward to a modernized MoM...
They weren't able to make a deal with Atari under acceptable conditions (they wanted a full control over the game). You may read some of the story here http://masterofmagic2.com/ or here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_of_Magic
So, what they're making is not a MoM2 but "One could describe it as part Master of Magic, part Populous and part X-Com. "

Yeah, i think the same way. Civ 4 BTS MP is much better so no point to waste time on Col2 MP. Then again, i don't want to return to Civ 4 MP either.

My whole problem with your comment started when you blatantly said "MP will suck, no doubt about it" before the game was released.

It's that sort of attitude that will convince yourself that it does suck. The fact that you have already written off MP before the game came out proves that even if it had been the best MP in the world you would still think it sucks because you'd already entered the mindset of "no doubt about it".

That's what my problem with your attitude was. Declaring that without even trying the game.
Why didn't you said it that way from the start? That should have cleared a lot of misunderstanding. Also, i'm not exactly "convicing" myself - that is, it's not just a belief or a feeling. I'm making a thought-out predictions based on a limited knowledge i have. As you can see now, this time my predictions were proven to be accurate.

Thats too bad about Atari being difficult about the license. I remember seeing a blurb in a gaming magazine about MoM2 being done by Stardock, but I cannot recall if it came out before or after this quote you linked to from a year ago...

I would love to see a Master of Magic 2 done by a competent Game studio like Stardock (or Firaxis for that matter). Master of Magic is one of the all time great games in my highly biassed recollection of early computer gaming.
