        I really like this part:

"Right after you hit the big bell-shaped button that causes your colony to revolt, you'll have some big decisions to make. A series of either/or questions pop up immediately after you declare independence, the collective results of which will comprise your nation's constitution. Will you support slavery? Enforce the separation of church and state? Model yourself after your monarchist rulers, or opt for a representative democracy? Each of these elements will bestow certain global properties on your colony. If your state is against slavery, for instance, you'll enjoy a bonus to the population of each of your settlements. "

From the IGN preview got I also the impression that the basic way goods work is still as deep as in colonization, which is what i hoped for. I was affraid those goods would be just civ4 like resources, but that article cleared up that fear

Another opinion on the new Col

Variety has taken a litle different approach in their viewing of this sequel.

Civilization IV: Colonization... Wow that looks offensive

In the column by Ben Fritz there are
But goddamit, am I the only one who think it's morally disturbing to make a game that celebrates COLONIZATION? It's ironic, actually, because just a few months ago a friend sent me a link to some information about the original "Colonization" game from 1994 (pictured left) that this one updates. At first, I thought it had to be a joke, but sure enough, it was real. However, I dismissed it as a relic from a time when neither developers nor players took videogames seriously as media with moral implications.
and the rant just goes on...

I think the article does raise some worthy points of consideration.

Having said that, I will still buy Colonization. (I refuse to type out the ridiculously long and award full name of the game.)

Too little history is just as harmfull as no history at all. The guy really needs to stop filling columns with mulicultural 1970's universalist bullsh*t. I am an history master student who has taken a deep interest of the involvment of France and the Netherlands in the New World (thanks in part to Colonization when I was 12)... The fact of the matter is that the colonization of the new worlds (including Africa's coastal fringe and Oceania) cannot be summed up to pillaging, raping and stealing like this history dimwit makes it looks like. It is also and foremost an encounter between cultures, an approach that had a deep impact upon both cultures. What's really offensive in this case is that because of this guy, people would likely better censor our common past than celebrate it as it is.

Thanks for your dedication, sorry if I am flooding this forum with messages, but this game, this very very game I have been in waiting for so long - and loved it much more than the civilization serie. I mean, if stalking a game is a crime, then arrest me.

Really, I would LOVE to fly out to Vegas just to play test it and actually I have dreamt of having inputs into the conception of this game for a long time. That makes me obsessed - I know.
