For me. It'd be the option for a hidden, randomised tech tree, and the ability to set which tile your city grows to.

Yes, we really need sci-fi games that hide mechanical elements like the tech tree from the player's view, and randomizes them between games so you can't as effectively transfer knowledge from one game to the next.

It should be an option for those who want it, but it shouldn't be forced on people.

It's good to have options. The inability to direct research was something I almost always disabled in SMAC. It can be fun to play sometimes to force a different playstyle though.

Grr. I preordered from BestBuy... They shipped it on the 21st by UPS.

UPS sent it to the Post Officer, who sent it to Ebola Town (Dallas). It won't be here until the 28th.
