  • Do you ever feel like you're being watched?

Really...are you ever paranoid about someone looking in your window, or monitoring your net connection, or tapping your phone calls or something?

(that was an expensive joke, btw )

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

        Only the window thing.
I live out in the cornfields where there are fewer people to do it, but also fewer locations to do it.
Since I never close curtains or blinds, I'm sure it has happened. And I'm vain enough not to care.
Rest of that stuff is Big Brother paranoia. Since 9/11 we should all now realize that the government collects an enormous amount of data and does not have the human resources to process even 10% of it.

Mrmitchell, you keep on going on with your life. If you don't, you will blow a two year federal investigation of questionable activity of apolytoners who have violated the Patriot Act. Go on with your life. I never said this. This post or thread doesn't exist.

          Kidding...
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

My phone was tapped twice during the 1st Gulf War. I doubt it was for intelligence gathering purposes, as they were rather obvious about it (the phone made regular clicking noises). Since we were open about everything anyway, we were more amused than anything else. We also had a couple guys in suits sitting in a late model sedan outside our apartment the night after our first teach-in, in a very rough neighborhood.

Nothing happened this time around, but I wasn't organizing all the students in the city this time either. The people I was working with were apparently lukcy that no one was tappng their phone, because they were dealing pot quite openly. I didn't work with them too long.

I'm not sure that means its bugged. More about the connection.

              I hope at least .

There's also the matter of when it happened. For a week after our teach-in and then again for a week after the bombing began. Plus we'd never had any trouble with the phone but for those two times. We made a joke of it, though, and told people to leave a message for us and the FBI at the tone.

What the hell is a teach-in and what can anti-the-freeing-of-Iraq people teach anyone anyway.
