    Historian's Thread

    Greetings everyone.

I'm glad you let me in. Looks like I'll have access to all of the teams now.

That's quite a lot of material to read over. It will make things somewhat problematic since GS has been so secretive so far, and I'll have to go over what I've already written and make sure I add things in for the GS POV.

On a final note, it's somewhat pleasing that GS was actually somewhat receptive to me joining the team. Though I never would have joined GS (or any team, don't take that the wrong way ) it's good to know at least one team has respect for me. I've learned quite a bit since the downfall of Lux, so anyone up for some PBEM knows where to inquire...

    Welcome.

Any questions you have, feel free to ask. Here would be a good place.

You will find that we are very consensus oriented. There are 2 players, and 3 scholia, or schools. Each member is supposed to be in 2 schools; War (The Spartan Academy), Econ (Adam Smith Foundation), or Diplomacy (The Great Embassy). Each school has a leader. nbarclay for the Economy, Zeit for the Diplomats, and arrian sharing with Theseus for War. The leader of a school would coordinate activities in that area. As it works out, we all pretty much range all over the place.

    Trip-

Are you going to want screen shots? Either we should start posting them online or you should be added to the email list. I think I would prefer the former. I'm sure someone has the archives, I have quite a few turns, not all (damn hotmail )

Oh, welcome to the forum. Hope you can wade through the information.

    Sounds good NYE.

asleep: Screenshots are good. I spent the last half hour looking for some here in the forum, and all I found was a demo .BIX Aeson did of your guys' land... Likewise, my poor Hotmail account could never stand up to the barrage (6 PBEM games in addition to REAL mail). Push the upload button... trust me, you'll like it.

    Okay, now a few questions:

What is GS' main economic and diplomatic goals for the near future? I know the military ones (taking out Vox), but things are a bit iffy on that front for me.

You're approaching your GA. How are you going about this?

How close to finishing the Pyramids are you?

How much money do you currently have?

Which techs do you plan on researching after Chivalry?

I think I'll leave things at that for now, hopefully they can be answered before I go to sleep tonight.

They are through the Apolyton upload server, and are 100% secure unless someone hacks the 'Poly server.

Or knows the exact filenames and which user has them stored in his uploads account.

That was really my concern, do we need to mask the filenames? I mean, GS3750BC seems to be obvious.

Provided there is some random element it will be OK. For example "GS Map 1000BC" is a bad name, but "XZQ GS Map 1000BC" is a good name (we can add XZQ, or similar, to the front of every filename). Nobody would be able to guess the weird letters at the front.

Perhaps GS has something they would like to submit for the Chronicle on recent matters?

    Welcome, Trip.

Yes, I have something to add:

"There will be a river of Vox blood, staining the land. Now they will know why they are afraid of the dark. Now they learn why they fear the night."
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

Forgive me, but I think that Eli's avatar wins that competition.

I was trying to come up with an avatar with two guys handshaking with the picture of an Immortal and Warrior's heads pasted onto the two guys shaking hands, but I couldn't find any images of the units that were big enough to use.

    Hey Trip, while you're around:

any idea when the next HOI patch is coming out? Did you ever finish that 1.03b bolted mod?

Not sure. Things will definitely slow down a bit now.

Never had a chance to get anything done with Bolted 1.03b. Just keeping up with the ISDG and PTW DG in addition to the things I have to do has been tough...

This seems like the best place to put...

    The Storm's Lament for Grog

An ancient man bearing an ancient Task,
An ancient age upon an ancient Mask.
A Heroic Watcher for Immortal sounds,
    Forever chained in Immortal bounds.

From the Storm you came to us,
To save us when fog befalls.
Back to the Storm you returned,
    As the Ancient Age palls.

(To the great Storm you held great Love,
"A tank" you cried, "Grog want TANK!")

Excellent work guys, FP and Nathan. Your songs of battle keep our soldiers strong. And soon, our incense would keep them high.

    Great Grog poems, guys!
