Actally, I managed 8 turns and then fell asleep on the sofa within that hour…
Then I managed to hurt my back sometime Monday, and driving (or sitting at a keyboard) was quite painful. I'm better (but still not 100%) tonight, so I dragged my computer in to work to finish.
Feel the love, guys!
1530 Review: didn't we just get RR? We need to build rails, ergo we need Settlers.
–––– Rush One Wow Cathedral, No LH Bank, ByeMike Settler; start Settlers most
–––– other cities. I'm trying to figure why we need an outpost so close to Celts
–––– who're already hostile, but the only other locations are far to the east
1540 MagellanGotLost founded. ByeMike, No LH need Cathedral to be happy
–––– Ship chains sent out exploring now that our Hides factories have shut down
–––– Rush Settlers in Marcono; bribe barb heffalumps
1550 Nil Newton Salt to Cardiff 184; much rushing and tickling
1560 One Wow Spice to Cancer 106; ByeMike and No LH Cathedrals; rush and tickle
1570 New Settlers put to work on the RR; bribe Archers, kill Eleys; lands discovered
–––– to the north and south, as foreseen be the Seers of Blackclick
1580 Marco Silver to Caernarfon 167; Egyptians recapture Abydos
1590 Not G builds Exchange; KeinK Silver to Abydos (now only size 3) 124, Wool
–––– no longer in demand; Discover Beijing, toss a 50g pittance to pacify; Celts
–––– want 200 (OK, not time for war)
1600 Keinkoloss Cathedral, One Wow Exchange; bribe another Eley, archer dies
1610 Barb eley down to sliver of red manages to croak our eley
1620 Industrialization (Commies next); KeinK & ByeMike Exchange. Now the
–––– Egyptians want 250… well, we've got more money than troops at this point
1630 MagellanGotLost quells malcontents by completing a Temple
1640 More exploring
1650 Chinese sneak attack sinks a couple CaravelsShow them no mercy!
–––– Marcono & No LH finish Libraries; 3 'clads and a Transport in production
I was hoping there might be an Egyptian city demanding wool, but so far only cites on the other side of the map want it. It could be worth the time required to move it all that way. I recommend using the Phalanx at Antigizeh to start a 'clad next turn.
We've now raised a formidable workforce for RRing: 2 Settlers for each of the larger cities. Keep RRing, and convert some no-shield grass into forest to boost production. The payoff only grows with time. We've got a string-bean continent to the north with a couple good locations and a good continent to the east for the supernumerary Settlers to go to.

Thanks guys, I'm much better. Effects mostly confined to actions that would be awkward in any case. It also hurts when I cough, sneeze, hiccup, burp… unless I feel it coming on and I lift my right arm straight up. It's weird and I don't get it.
Jrabbit, demand often changes when certain advances are reached, and sometimes when growing or losing pop. I don't know that anyone has figured out more than that.

1750 = Germans use Great Wall to enforce a Cease Fire! Caravans 38/23g for internal railroaded routes.

1758 = Egyptians land elephant and kill two settlers - I have nver seen the AI choose to attack units rather than a city before ... ; Rape of Konigsberg commences - two spies lost; Egyptian Elephant seeks happy hunting ground;
1760 = Rape of Konigsburg continues without loss; trade continues; Manhatten Fail founded;
1762 = Konigsburg now down to 6, two spies lost; German cities buy white goods; several caravans ready to go into Berlin; Explosives next turn; Another Egyptian caravan destroyed.
The game is looking good, for my money we eliminate Konigsburg, buy the other two non-Berlin German cities and switch back to Demo for a few growth cycles -- but it is your call - go for it...

1650 = Celts..Chivalry and maps; Germans gave peace, Magnetism. Atomic Theory and Theory of Gravity, oh yes and maps; ...Egyptians... share maps with MongolsWe must have a pretty complete worldview by now.
Question -- Is it true that map trades require a "worshipful" relationship? Always seems to for me...
Question -- What are "white goods?...we just spent 1000g on one or two white goods...(Guess I'll learn when I get the d/l home)
Question -- What happened to the payoff scale on our routes? Overseas deliveries roughly half of before. I'm here to learn, so -- pourquoi, s'il vous plait?1720 = Gems to One Wonders 41g;

Question -- Internal vs. external trade routes. How does one decide what makes sense?
Question -- On internal routes, is there any benefit to the recipient city?
This just happened to me in my current SP game. I hit revert a couple times and it seems to be true only when the units are settlers or vans. When I took down City Walls, the city was attacked. The civ involved was the Russians (aggressive militaristic treaty-breakers, they are). (Insufficient research, I know. But at least I can confirm your experience and provide a data point.)1758 = Egyptians land elephant and kill two settlers - I have nver seen the AI choose to attack units rather than a city before

An attempt at lagomorphic education:
White goods are city improvements - they show white in the F1 window and are (by us) generically entitled laundrettes - our philosophy is that the production of a city is too valuable to be tied up for 40 turns building a bank for example and that as soon as any shields show in the box they should be bought - obviously an overgeneralisation, but none the less a reasonable policy.
Yes we now have a very reasonable world map.
At Worshipful you will get maps, but you can get them at lower rating, particularly before 1750 when the ceiling falls in.
We are in the 'Trade Doldrums' we have all the trade killers and none of the enhancements - we need Freights badly
Experience and luck - now that our home continent is fairly thoroughly railroaded the internal routes give the railroad bonus and hence have very good ongoing trade value - 12 arrows between our two major cities - our overseas routes are depressed for several reasons - not least because we now own many of the former German trading partners - but also because of the trade doldrums mentioned above
Yes - both cities get the augmented ongoing trade benefit (if both optimal routes exist) - we tend to ensure this by RRing the entire continent.
Aside: We find that on entering the Society the sign clearly reads 'Gaming'. but mysteriously it changes its syntactic content sometime during the evening![]()
