I don't know why the Flashman's thread keep being closed.

I'm sure there were good reasons, I haven't read the closed thread anyway, but I trust the administrators of this site.

However

The last one, http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=25184 that as been closed too, was neither dangerous nor violent nor pornographic.

Why the hell was it closed ?
There was no reason to close that one. Was it a joke from MarkG ?

I dislike censorship anyway. I find people which put stars not to show a prohibed word are ridiculous. Mother ****er. So furthermore, when it comes to people compelled to silence because of the censor's goodwill, I become angry.

I'd guess the thread was closed because it was a running joke. Personally I think MarkG's closing note just added the punchline. Turning it into a crusade would be a bit sad.

As for the autocensor? Not everyone wishes to read such words. You can either be a gentleman and live with it, or stick to obscenities the autocensor doesn't recognise.

I prefer the latter, obviously.

As MarkG pointed out, it was obvious why he was closing the thread.

Many of his threads which aren't rude or crude are just pure spam, which also aren't allowed under the current rules.

And feel free to get angry... it is your opinion, and I can understand where you are coming from.

However, this isn't a democracy... This is a private site. The owners make the rules. If you wish to be a member here, you are asked to follow them. It's that simple.

Totally not censorship. You can still read what was said in that thread. All Mark did was stop the spamming that was going on at the time to stop the +1 post count posts.

Of course anyone could start another thread on the subject if there was more to say on the topic other than speaking in third person. So you have and it probably wont be stopped because the site does allow most public discourse but spam threads have never been allowed and I hope will continue to be stopped.

But that kind of words are a part of the vocabulary. When you don't use them too often, they can show particularly strong feelings about a topic, express violence and so on ! But that just stays simple WORDS !

That reminds me the Jerry I-don't-know-what show in America, of which I have whatched excerpts on TV. This Jerry machin-chose showed us the perversity of media, making money with people's problems, showing human as a monkey. But that was okay for the American puritan public, because noone could hear the insults (bip). Everyone could understand however.

The autocensor is completely pointless. It's not like the intention or meaning of a word that is asterisked-out is not clear. So, basically, someone who gets offended by a word is going to get equally offended if it is censored (either that or they are a hypocrite)... but the autocensor has the added bonus of being patronising (yeah right, if I can only see asterisks I won't know what it means my arse!). So, rather than offending people, the autocensor ought to be offend and patronise people.

A word is just a collection of letters. It is the meaning of the word that may/may not be offensive. Therefore, anyone who is fine with the asterisks but not with the word itself is either incredibly stupid or a ****ing hypocrite.

MLC, if you think them censoring the 'f' word is bad, you obviously haven't discovered that they censor the word d-i-c-k. (****).

However, you can say 'wanker', 'bugger', 'hell', 'bloody', '****', '***' and 'arse' as much as you like.

well I shall remark about vulgarity. I like bad words. But in the context of this forum, they have no place. I save them for spamming forums like audiogalaxy . Occasionally I do use profanity. And it is a pain to go out of my way to make the word I want to use clear. but it is worth it. since **** and **** have the same # of letters, I usually just say something like f*ck. And the C word I won't even mention. I don't use that word out of respect for women who hate that word. I only say that word to women who deserve it. BTW I'm talking about the other C word not the one that is part of the word c0ckfight.
