Also, while this is a matter for much further down the road, I'd love to incorporate some of that diplogamer storytelling we are all famous for. Maybe we'll be the only ones doing it, and that's ok. It'll be a chance to show off our craft to the world if nothing else. We could create a team login and several of us could share access to it and it could post all our stories. We could work on some posts collectively, or just let anyone who wants to make a post go for it. We could potentially create ambassadors to other nations, and create logins on other sites specifically for this purpose, and conduct diplomacy with the other teams like this.
Just a thought.
I have more thoughts as well, but we should discuss those in private. Robert can you set up a private forum?

Excelente!
Definitely down for some story-telling.
For spies - why disable espionage altogether when we can just mod out the offending civ-wide missions? It would be a pity to lose spies and that part of the game totally over just two of the many missions available...

Here's my vote:
Spanish DM mod: open to persuasion
AW: Yes
Nukes: No
Espionage: No
Huts/events: No
Corporations: undecided
On the ISDG 2012 team at the heart of CiviLIZation
Yeah!Definitely down for some story-telling.
Trade is the name of the game..

Good suggestion. I think this is an excellent proposal. It only removes the bad..For spies - why disable espionage altogether when we can just mod out the offending civ-wide missions? It would be a pity to lose spies and that part of the game totally over just two of the many missions available...
+1
@Ozzy: I can create a private forum overhere. I assume one will be created on CFC as well for us, but I like your suggestion to just have our forum here a lot more 8)
I think that we should suggest that all forums/sites only enter with 1 team.
It's a lot more fun if it's a true game between sites, some kind of an 'international tournament', but then an 'intersiteional tournament'
We could try to convince Firaxis to send in a team. I doubt that they would join a civ4 game now they're focussed on civ5, but we can at least try. I give it a shot at one of my contacts at Firaxis, but only if the organizers of this game are ok with that.

I´m in. I´ve only just returned home from studies abroad and this mail was about the first thing I saw - give me a few days to adjust and handle stuff, but I´m definitely in based on Robert´s mail (= I haven´t read a word in this thread, yet).
I´ve actually been playing (and still am) a PB game while abroad, I´m in training![]()
I've been impatient and sent out a message to Firaxis already. I'll let you guys know.

since those serious guys seem to be in favor of always war, maybe we can think of an easy mod which would make that unecessary.
major concern is city gifting: I think we can easily mod out that feature from the diplo options and that's it.
I think we can disable unit gifting too somehow, but I don't know how yet.
I'd prefer to keep open border treaty, resource trading etc (in the latter issue without resource trading some civ can be at disadvantage if it lacks certain strategic resources)
France civ site is going to try to get a team in!

We now have a private forum!!
Everyone who volunteered for the team has been PMed instructions on getting access. Anyone else who wants to join the team let me know and I'll get you instructions as well.

Good luck guys!I will be looking forward to the stories. Maybe I can convince the CFCers to do some of that as well
About the influence-civic/religion spy mission, it really is just a matter of players not liking it, because they don't know how to defend against it, because they dont play with it, so they arent used to it, so they don't like it... etc etc, round and round the vicious circle goes.
For all the virtual ink spilled about how cheap and easy it is for a small civ to take down a big one with these missions, it is just as cheap and easy for an ally to nulify the mission by switching you back from whatever you got switched into. That simple precaution rewards the wary/prepared, and punishes the ones who want to just ignore the mission as if its not there. The really great value of the mission is an ability to really punish Civs that rely too heavily on one particular Civic or religion instead of diversifying their economy. Players who strategies rely too hevily on leveraging one Civic are terrified of this mission... They want to stick with their practiced, dogmatic way of playing.
For now (maybe reading the RB threads will change my mind) I plan to advocate full espy with no missions banned (but of course I will play regardless) My two cents.
Cheers

Well some seem to want to ban espionage altogether. So I'd be ok with a compromise that just bans the civic switch mission. But we'll see how things go. We haven't really heard from the other teams yet.

I might be interested but I'd probably have time constraints.
"Our scientific power has out run out spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men." - Martin Luther King Jr.
"A cynical, mercenary, demagogic press will produce in time a people as base as itself." - Joseph Pulitzer

It takes as much or as little time as you want to spend. It really isn't much of a commitment. Just keep an eye on the forum, offer insight whenever you have it, or just follow along with what others are working on. It is really minimal in terms of time commitment.
