Hi! i am nelson and i like this thread and forum very much..........
BTW recently my graphics card died, so my wife gave me a slightly better card for my birthday. Since then Civ 5 has run like a champ on my computer, so I guess the problem was my graphics card. I've never had one die on me before, so perhaps the initial problem was a defective graphics card.

missing the MP fun of Civ, I hope that they either get it patched or fix it in Civ 6

I haven't played the game in months. Frankly, Civ5 sucks and this is coming from a guy who loves the series and who has been posting at Civ fan sites for over a decade.

That's a great relief!
As for Civ6, I wouldn't bet on it.
With the recent developments in the game world, it is likely that Civ will turn into MMOG.
This was already predicted 4 years ago when I was still actively posting here and there is now CivWorld on Facebook, giving a hint where it's going..

well, in that case. Civ IV forever![]()

You would have to have some evidence for that.MMOGs are on the way down.
AFAIK everyone who can, is going into MMOGs.
Also, note that many of the browser games are technically MMOGs (FarmVille, Ikariam etc), possibly you're not counting those.
You can try CivWorld in Facebook, but I think it's not what a "civ" game should be.

Well, the Civ is not exactly the typical MMOG. You can start the Facebook game (for example) and you can waste some time poking with the cursor. With the Civ game you need 2 play two weeks to start understanding how much you still don't know about the game. Of course you can dumb it down but this will not be a Civ game anymore.
Unmodded Civ V is garbage, but I recently picked it back up using Thal's Unofficial Patch and Vanilla Enhancement mods, which improve the gameplay immensely. The VEM in particular has loads of very smart and fun improvements to the game.
City-state gameplay and the AI still need work though.
They will not (at least soon) succeed to make a good 1UP AI for games. Remember Panzer General games - in all the campaigns you attack and the AI defends with pre-positioned units and you have to conquer the target tiles in *very* few turns. But it can be played the other way - with the human player as defender. I tried only once and never again - because as an attacker the AI could barely put a dent in my forces. The 1UP concept is too complicated in too many ways for the game AI to be able to cope with it. They have to use AI like the super-computers chess programs for this.
I do like 1UP gameplay, but if what you're saying is true then 2k made a huge error moving in that direction.
One of the biggest AI issues seems to be pathfinding for its units, and limits on the number of units on a tile reduces the number of valid paths. This was an issue with the Call To Power series and so should not have been a surprise to the game designers. One of the solutions is an extensive road network, so that there are readily available alternative pathways. Guess what else the Civ V designers decided to do?

No. No we do not feel that they delivered "another great game". In fact,
