Must the games be so large? Both the last two games are on large maps. Completing such a game takes soooooo long.
Currently I've completely won game 21. My techlead is dominating, and my units are taking cities left and right. But on such a large map it'll take a great many hours to complete the game. That kinda sucks.Comment

Just recently joined the league, only tired games 19, 20 & 21. Don't know if this was already tried in an earlier game, but...
IMO, it might be interesting to try an Advanced Start game, and have everyone post how they spent their opening cash with their game finished post. One Mega-City; several smaller cities; buy Bronze Working and several Axemen and try and early rush?Comment

Well I've only played the last two games, so I don't really mind, but if I look back at all the games, I see very little variation in the games. The leader changes, the map changes, and sometimes there are no random events, or no tech trading, or something like that. Minor stuff.
I think this competition would be more exciting with more varied gameplay. Throw in a few OCC games! Throw in some other interesting variations. Like an anti-barbarian game. Or a game where you ban cottages to enforce an specialist economy. Or maybe ban science alltogether, only stealing techs.
Alternative victory conditions are fun too. Maybe a culture victory. Etc.Comment

Having just watched The Masters golf tournament, I'll steal an idea from the PGA Tour...
once a quarter, designate a BTS Tri-league game as a Major. Set the bar pretty high with demanding/unique game setups, maybe play at Marathon speed with an extended submission time, whatever. The have the score from the submitted Major games have a bonus of 1.5 or 2 times toward the Player of the Year competition.Comment
