Wait, they aren't allowed to leave the country to go on a suicide mission? Germany has no freedom I say!![]()

One thing is to blow yourself into bits and pieces, but dragging the children into it because of religious idiocy ????

German mother 'planned bombing'
Woman using computer
The women used chatrooms to express their intentions
Berlin police say they have foiled a German woman's plans to travel abroad to become a suicide bomber.
She is one of three women who media reports say are being investigated after announcing plans on the internet to carry out missions in Iraq.
Berlin police said the woman may have been planning to take along her child, who has since been taken into care.
Last year, a Belgian woman who had converted to Islam blew herself up in Baghdad, killing six people.
Berlin police told the BBC they had discovered that a 40-year-old woman was "planning via an internet forum to commit suicide, kill or injure other people abroad".
"She herself is a convert to Islam and was thus hoping to get into paradise," the police said. "It could not be ruled out that, in doing so, she would also kill her small child, who lived with her."
Radical spouses
Police could not confirm newspaper reports that she was taken into psychiatric care while the investigation continues.
Berlin newspaper Der Tagesspiegel says two other German women, from the south of the country, had planned similar acts in Iraq or Pakistan.
They are also said to have been prevented from leaving the country.
The paper said the women became radicalised under the influence of their Islamic radical partners and in repeated visits to radical chatrooms, the expert was quoted as saying.
He said entries on such websites had exposed them to investigators as a potential threat. Two of the three women were believed to have been in contact with each other, the paper reports.
Germany's federal police could not comment on the reports.
I would wish that UN instead of it currently wasteful actions about protecting religious feelings would go into the work of an international ban of religion - then at least they would do something that made sense.

Banana

There are actually organized buses going from most european cities to eastern Turkey, go figure out what's the next step
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Maybe not.

So, instead of warring with the violent fringe of one religion, you'd be at war with ALL religions, simultaneously. Including the heavily-religious, heavily-armed U.S. Yep, that's quite sensible.Originally posted by BlackCat

Religious people are insane.
The enemy cannot push a button if you disable his hand.

Wait, so we're more dangerous than North Korea, China, or Russia's collapsing democracy? Explain. Also, tell me how exactly you're going to enforce your ban against the will of the majority of the world's population...

Wouldn't you consider an america ruled by religious fanatics more dangerous than any of those you mention ?
can't remember that I have said anything about that I had the solution of this madness, so I can't say that that I have the "final solution". Though, one simple tool would be education.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
Steven Weinberg

RULED by religious fanatics? The phrase "international ban of religion" implies active prohibition, to me at least. As in, nobody goes to church. That's a pretty tall order, and it'd have to be backed up with force. I've never heard of anyone taking outside interference in his/her personal spiritual beliefs sitting down.

Lioness kills visitor at Kiev zoo
A lioness at Kiev's zoo has killed a man who climbed into her enclosure.
A Ukrainian of Azerbaijani origin lowered himself into the enclosure using a rope. He was quoted as saying God would save him.
One of four lions in the enclosure seized the 45-year-old by the throat, and he died at the scene.
The zoo - which keeps the lions on an "island" protected by concrete blocks - was packed with visitors at the time of the attack on Sunday.
"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," a zoo official told Reuters news agency.
"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

'For example, our Sages declare in a number of places, "Those engaged in
a mitzva-related mission do not come to harm" (Yoma 11a, Kiddushin 39b,
Chullin 142a). On the other hand, the Talmud concludes, "This principle
is inoperative where danger is to be expected" (Pesachim 8b; see also the
above sources, where the formulation is slightly different). To complicate
matters further, another passage declares that one is forbidden to rely
upon a miracle (Pesachim 64b).'

the irony here is that the rightist fundies just LOVE to point to intolerant secularists, from Europe especially, to justify all kinds of silly things.Originally posted by Elok

"God will save me, if he exists," huh?
The Kiev dude isn't clearly atheist or Xian, based on the story given. He sounds psychotic, but he could be acting on either of two crackheaded delusions:
1. "I must show my faith. I will go to hell if I do not give a sign of my belief RIGHT now!" or
2. "God is just a conspiracy invented by the Illuminati and Hitler! This will prove it to the world, definitively!"

exactly. If you don't have absolute faith, then you hardly qualify as a religious fundamentalist.

The thing is we atheists don't have a holy book, so it's going to hard for us to have some kind of narrow, literal interpretation of it.Originally posted by Jon Miller
