A bunch of Imperialism units I redrew from an isometric perspective.![]()

I wasn't sure whether the next unitset would be classified as fantasy or industrial, in the end I decided to post it here but if there is agreement that it should be posted in the fantasy section then I will gladly remove it. In any event, it is the unitset for a small project that never got off the ground, a scenario based on Harry Turtledove's "Guns of the South" featuring two uniform designs for the AK-47 armed Confederate infantry and cavalry along with everybody's favorite time travelling Afrikaners..... the Rivington Men armed with they're Uzi Machine gun's.
These units should work fine in both MGE and ToT format.
These next three humble units of mine are from the same never released Guns of the South scenario. They feature a Confederate Blockade Runner, a generic mid nineteenth century Frigate to be used by all playable civ's and the first submersible that sank an enemy ship in combat, the CSS Hunley.
Had I completed the scenario there would have been British and American ironclads featured as well to represent the war on the Great Lakes between the US and Britain as well as an American Blockade Runner which would have been used to sneak supplies through the fierce blockade enforced by the Royal Navy, but alas the scenario never reached that stage of completion.
These three are Mexican army units from the American Civil War period. They too were to be featured in the never completed "Guns of the South" scenario.
While we're on the theme of Mexican industrial era units, there are from the same above mentioned yet never completed project. In this case the featured units are irregular militia and light cavalry.

I think they'll have a place here no matter what thread they're in.
I believe those are the last MGE pallet units I ever produced. Odds are from now on all the units I post here will be in the ToT format. I'm curious, just how many unit makers in this forum plan on posting exclusively in ToT format from now on?

two rather horrid looking french dreadnougts, the normandie and lyon classes,
info
Due to the shortage of manpower in WW1, none of the Normandies were completed in time, and all except Bearn were scrapped. Bearn became the first French aircraft carrier, but was too slow to be successful.
The Lyons were intended to be enlarged Normandies, but WW1 halted their laying down, and postwar economies, combined with the French navy receiving enemy warships, meant the cancellation of the project.
armamanets
normandie:
12 x 13.4"/45 Mod 12 guns in quad turrets
22 x 5.5"/55 Mod 10 guns in single casemates
6 x 47mm guns in single mountings
6 x 17.7" submerged torpedo tubes
lyon:
16 x 13.4"/45 Mod 12M guns in quad turrets
24 x 5.5"/55 Mod 10 guns in single casemates
6 x 47mm guns in single mountings
6 x 17.7" submerged torpedo tubes
Instructions for quick wash:
Tie clothes in bundle, drop in toilet and flush 5-times
then tie damp clothes around neck in capelike fashion
and run around block yelling "I am normal!" until clothes are air-dried.

Well, I've been one for a few years now.Originally posted by Sarsstock

Also, no offense to Erika -
Your enthusiasm is awesome, but lets keep to the house rules, ma'am!

Something I don't understand, though.
Erika's units may only be modifications, but they're extremely good- enough to be warranted as 'original' in their own right. They're posted in large quantities too. I'm sure you have your reasons, but I think she has pretty much satisfied most of the criteria above.

Did we really? When, where? I'm still waiting for the old threads to be restord. am I waiting in vain?Originally posted by curtsibling
We decided to have a new start, so let's keep it that way.![]()
Yeah, this one as wellOriginally posted by curtsibling
PS
Could a mod removed all posts that have nothing to do with units?
(including this one)![]()

I haven't 'repainted other people's work' in a long time, perhaps 3 years or so. The stuff I post is drawn from entirely from scratch. All of the posts on this page bar Leo's ships include units modified from originals I've drawn, together with originals by Nemo and Techumseh. If you'd perhaps like to cite examples of my 'repainting other's work' I'd be interested to see them.Originally posted by plum1972
other than repainting other peoples work, which any one can do what have u done ORIGINAL to judge anyone elses work
I am emphatically not judging them - I love the mods made by Sarsstock, Curt, Typhoon, Tanelorn etc. In fact I'm demeaning them by calling them mods - they're originals in their own right, with lots of effort put into creating an entirely new unit. What I'm a little bothered by is 'modifications' that entail cutting and pasting, deleting or adding a couple of pixels and very little else.
The bullsh1t comment (poor choice of word and for that I apologise) was referring to posts that don't include unit attachments in a supposedly units-only thread; the irony is that this little discussion constitutes the biggest transgression of the lot, and I'd be obliged if one of the moderators could delete this whole series of posts, mine included.
Oh, and welcome to the Scenario League plum1972.![]()

Speaking of Our_Man and Fairline, would it be possible Gareth for you to repost that wonderfull compilation you made up of Civil War era units that were originally posted on Our_Man's "How Few Remain" thread? I have a partial version of the set and would love to see it again, not to mention the fact that its just the kind of unitset this thread was made for.

Another pile of units by Various Artists,

Here are afew other units intended for the long deceased "Guns of the South" project of mine, which I abandoned just before taking up "The World of Jules Verne". Perhaps somebody out there could put them to the use the way I never could.

Thread cleaned up a bit.

Well I thank you for the compliment St. Leo. Some of these threads seem to have gotten off on a rough start but I'm sure that as long as sensible poster's they'll stay clean and on topic.
Here's another compilation of minor Civil War units that I had intended for "Guns of the South". My idea was to try to have a special infantry and or militia unit for each and every state in both the Confederacy and the Union in gameplay. With ToT I'm certain I could have come close to that goal if not achieved it. Just out of curiosity, would anybody be interested in a game based on "Guns of the South"? Where time travelling Afrikaner's attempt to overthrow President Lee and take controll of the Confederacy to shape it into they're vision for a white supremisist state. All this at the same time when the US is waging a bloody invasion of Canada while Britain inflicts a crippling blockade of America's east coast.
Any interest out there?........ anyone?

This is the stuff!![]()

Very nice Sarsstock.![]()
Much abliged Harry and Curt! I have to admit Curt I've often wondered just what a civil war era scenario made by yourself would look like with your unique erily dark style. As I'm sensing there isn't much enthusiasm for "Guns of the South", what about a regular non time travelling historical American Civil War scenario? Something like Nemo's Civil War scenario but updated to make use of modern maps, cities and units styles in both MGE and ToT formats.
Tom and I attempted such an ambitous project (The Blue and the Grey), only to discover that a scenario of that magnitude was too big for two relatively new designers. With so many developments with maps and graphics as of late however, perhaps the time is right for a new large scale Civil War scenario!!
In any case, these are afew more units I had put together for the now defunct twice above mentioned project.

Chris ... I am left speechless. These are the damn finest-looking ACW units ever. Three cheers!![]()

Got some updated artillery pieces too?![]()
.Artillery eh Steph? Now there's something I don't think can ever be perfected, not upon Gareth's work at least. I mean, I've tinkered with artillery units here and there before and I keep comming to the conclusion that there isn't much more you can do to them. Still, I suppose I could take a crack at a piece or two.
Also Steph I just realized I forgot to stick your signature in a couple of those unit hex's, that angled hat graphic was something I borrowed from an original unit of yours in Highway to Hell. Many apologies my friend.
