Played it. Sent it. Wondering why the other people's turns are so damn slow...
Playing it
Honghu has -another- leap in the chart.
I'd declare this PBEM decided, but Kody/HongHu still have to get by me.

Yea if I was a little more experienced (and better lucked) I'd be able to crunch out my colony pods earlier so that I won't have the leap in the power chart when my pop grows from 2 to 4 at the same turn when I capture my first mindworm.![]()

Managed to squeeze the turn in. Very tired though, not sure I remembered all the stuff I needed to do with my turn. Will deal with roleplay and other things later.
The 14th Year of Eden -> PKs
Also tired, but not as much to do as Kody![]()
This is a much more acceptable turn speed.![]()
Umm I'll put in roleplay of this later.
Flying mindworms?????
Honghu, yeah I suppose I can't really expect any more techs for free, now you've got your place defended and all. You've been awfully nice about the inital demands.
I'm finishing a tech you'll be interested in which I am willing to exchange. I think you can guess what. I've just finished getting enough energy for a SE change, so I suppose I will switch next turn.
________________________
As for Honghu and I becoming powerful, so far it's been mostly from our individual efforts than anything else.
I studied the early early game indepth while we were waiting for the game to start, it's all about the nutrients and then the minerals. So the first thing I did was plonk down my first two bases on top nutrient bonuses so I could use more resources faster.
I actually explained it here.
http://www.apolyton.com/forums/showt...47#post2927847
From the looks of it Honghu followed my lead. Or maybe I getting too full of myself.“Local scans show high levels of nutrients to the south, this will assist in growth which will be essential in growing our population.” I bit off each word, making it clear what I thought of being treated like a child. “The first base should be planted to the south where we can fully utilise it.”
http://www.apolyton.com/forums/showt...30#post2939330
Anyway I would credit my success so far on the inital base planting decision. Not sure what Honghu credits her success to.Lady Hong decided that this is a nice place for her people to settle and make home. She was so thankful to the planet's gift toward her and her people. Later report from her botanical lab proved that such a decision was indeed a wise one. The land under the new base was determined to contain certain miracle elements. Comparative experiments showed that crops planted with these soil grew three times faster than the same crops planted with soils from other places.
Luck, I suppose. I didn't have a Nut bonus in range of my first base.
My Spatrol explored in the wrong direction to find it, and even if I did, I'd have probably settled on the river instead of moving my Cpods for 2 turns.
The tech you're exchanging is probably Industrial Economics, or Planetary Networks. HongHu has the complement to this tech, so that you'll both get to IA pretty damn fast, probably at the same time I do.
If I were you guys, I'd Worm/Rover rush the University - I'm the only major threat to Kody's skill in this game.
...
Actually, If I were Kody, I'd throw Enigma_Nova at whomever's playing slow and pick up the spoils afterwards.
I've made a log of the time it takes people to play the turn.

So my actual per turn rate is 4.22 hours.

So that means that once I take out HongHu, GeoModder, Jamski, Chaos Theory and Hercules...
I'll have to eliminate myself.![]()
I kindof got scripts that keep track of this thread for me. Even when I was super busy I knew exactly who's turn it was since the scripts were still reporting to me.
Also lately I've been working at home that's why I've been able to play the turns even during my mornings. When I finish this current paper I'll go back to normal office hours (rather than my 18 hour extended work day at home) and sometimes will not be able to open SMAC.
Now time to block myself away from apolyton again, I'll still be watching. I got an extension on the paper for another 12 days, so I'm putting my nose back to the grind stone for a while. Then I'll get back into this game I think.

My times would have been shorter in the beginning if that forward delay of HH's internet provider didn't happen. Also, did you count out the resents I had to do in the beginning because you didn't warn that hotmail accounts were ignored in your inbox, Enigma? And lastly, usually HongHu forwards the turn when it's full night in my time zone. Hope you don't mind that I don't have an alert on my computer that warns me of an incoming turn?
Edit:![]()
I need some way to be alerted when I get the turn.
Is there any way I can get a pop-up when someone replies to this thread?

Let 'Poly sent automatically an email to your inbox, perhaps you can let that one give you a warning of an incoming mail?
But that has his hazards now, seems some people were banned for a while because their provider commits some mail bouncing...![]()
The auto-mail I know, but how on earth do you get a pop-up (or a sound warning) for incoming mail?
I've never bothered to learn how to set up Outlook Express.
Enigma you really take the time to study this. For me at least it should be fairly consistent. I'll be doing my turn around the 10pm the day I receive my turn. So my turn time could vary from very short to very long but should not be longer than 24 hours unless special circumstances.
As for early worm rush, it's a pitty I've only got Lily last turn. Hopefully she grows fast and can find herself some companions. She can't really fly, she hovers above the ground for a short while but she needs to drop back to the fungus. However, according to my research, there is flying potential inside her biostructure.
Oh and I set up my second base on nut really based on my individually thinking too.

noobsmac uses a proxy, so they can't IPdetect me.
I suppose I should let the mods know, right?
-if I stop posting, the reason is because I am banned-
Wonder if one can take out a registration if it is not needed any more? I mean with so many posters with 0 or 1 post. I guess most of them won't bother to delete their registration but even if they want to they may not be able to?

Well if Cap'n Hercules don't send over the turn in the next 30 minutes I'll see you guys at 10 pm again.

Does this mean the DG turn is about to appear?![]()

Hey noobsmac, why not using your other DL for testing?![]()

Well what I get is a file called winmail.dat. That is a long way from a '.sav' file
And I get gibberish when I try to do something with it.

Now my primary email account is down entirely. Maybe they were having some problems before? In any case, I sent the turn yet again, from another email source.
