In this game, 2 weeks = 2 turns.![]()
2 weeks also equals heaps of posts though. Just be proud you're in the only turn tracking thread that will probably require 10 to 20 volumes.

Yes it actually happened. Don't ask me why because I don't know.
She would not be thinking much about whether you were telephathy. Later she would, perhaps. But at the moment, she was startled, yes, and moved.

Kody’s back was steady and straight. The disks in her hand, HongHu stood silently, watching him leave. Earth is gone. You can't forever live in the past. For some reason she forgot all the other things Kody said to her but just this sentence, echoing in her mind. HongHu felt she wanted to cry. How she yearned for a broad shoulder where she could put her head on and cry.
The darkness had embraced the planet. Millions of stars silently twinkled in the sky. The fast running river was covered with a light floating mist. Just like her eyes.

The Jamskites opened the door to their beloved leader. The rumors were true, he had died during one of his weekends of self indulgence. They stepped around the broken wine bottles and used syringes to find their leader in a comprising position. At least he died happy someone whispered as they woke up the three women in the room and got them out before they sobered up.
What will happen to us now? Who will protect us against the dreaded Dean Enigma? Uncertainty was written across every face in the room, except for Jamski's because he was dead. Everyone tugged at their rich clothes wondering whether the years of plenty were at an end, although Jamski didn't because his clothes weren't anywhere near him, and not the mention the fact that Jamski was dead.
We need to find a new leader, was the unspoken thought in each person's mind. They fervently hoped that they could find someone with the drive and vision to lead them.

It's got 2 freakin' suns people! Less than half the planet is nighttime.
What's this dreaded Dean Enigma BS? I'm not even atop the powerchart, Kody is.
BTW, it's Magi Enigma_Nova of the Nexus of Wisdom - not Dean Enigma of the University of Planet. I renamed it to give the faction more of an Enigma-like touch.
Ahh so I'm at the top of the hit list again?
No, you're the Spartans. You clear the hit list.
I'm pretty sure the main target(s) right now are yourself and HongHu, because you're tearing up that powerchart.
You may even get IA ahead of me!
Well, at least HongHu can't do FM and Kody can't do Wealth.![]()
You're just pointing in our direction continously because you want to distract attention from your Chiron domination plans. Anyway isn't one of the things in diplomancy, to not be the common enemy that drives multiple opponents together.
You've always talked about how dangerous you are gameplay wise, and now you're actually playing on the diplomatic front too you're more dangerous than ever.

Here are my 'Chironian plans':
1. Rebuild infrastructure
2. Build impact or missile - rovers or interceptors (whatever's available)
3. Kill stuff
'Kill stuff' will probably start around 2135, to mutually honour a pact.
Kill stuff will most likely go:
1. PWN Slow turnplayers (PWN all else quickly)
2. PWN Kody (main opposition)
3. PWN everyone else, conquer victory
As you can clearly see Enigma's disaster is merely a sham.
Missile interceptors built before a turn 2135 war.2. Build impact or missile - rovers or interceptors (whatever's available)

Also he had "Kill Kody" before he decided to edit and add "slower turn players"
I beseech this council to not listen to the madman Magi Engima, he admits he is obviously ploting the destruction of everyone else even as he stands there.

Start with Impact and work your way up!
And yes, I do intend to "PWND J00 N3WBZ". Who isn't intending on winning this game thoroughly?
*raises his hand*

Depends of the mutual position of the suns, 'Nigma. Alpha Centauri A and B are orbiting each other, you know, and when B is on th other side of A seen from Chiron, dark it is on the nightside!Originally posted by Enigma_Nova

Enigma could you upload the latest save file onto this forum so that we won't have to worry about fumbling around with email addresses and people getting online at the right time before being able to pass the turn on?

Well, sofar you have refrained from wiping out a faction it seems. I might have better agreed on your proposal shortly before the game started...Originally posted by Kody

Ah so I joined this game just to die at 2135 hmmm. Now I understand.

GeoModder: Do you think the suns would ever eclipse?
I think it's improbable, but it would be cool when it happened.
Maybe it would make native life kill formers or something.
Why are people so up-tight about the idea of being Impact Rover rushed?
Relaaax.

If both the suns AND the planet orbit in a close enough similar ecliptic plane, yes, B is covered by A once a Chiron orbit then... Mind you, it would only take a day or so before it's finished again.Originally posted by Enigma_Nova

Prolly take only like 10 minutes or so.
Someone do the physics.

Haven't heard of the Venus-Sol transit last week, didn't you?
It took Venus 4-5 hours to cross the southern part of the sun, and it was only a mere 40-45 million km away from us.
Alpha Centauri B OTOH would be at least 750 million km away from Chiron at the time of a eclipse. My estimation of 'only' a day is very conservative seen in that light...
I so am not going to look up the masses of the binary star system of alpha centuari then figure out their orbits around each other. It might also have to be followed by the calculations required for considering the rotation of the planet. This should probably take into account the radition given off by the sun and how it would affect the habitable zone of the system, the planet will need to have an orbit in the habitable zone of the system.
It'll take more far longer than 10 minutes I think. An sun on sun eclipse won't cause darkness, probably only a slight dimming of light, so it probably won't be anything spectacular.

Kody is correct here. Out of my head the distance between A and B is varies between 5-40 AU (1 AU = distance Earth-sun, 150 million km) and orbits once every 80 something earth years. A bit like Uranus in our star system.
O yes, in the SMAC story Chiron has a 'day' of about 18 hours.
1. Presume that Alpha Centauri A has the same angular diameter as the Sun on earth.
2. Presume it weighs the same, so that radius squared is proportional to period cubed
So since venus is at 4/9 AU,
then for a 5 AU binary star, that's 'bout 12 times the distance, 5.25 times the time to get across the disc.
You'd have like 25 minutes to transit the sun.
And for 40 AU, 20 times the time, you'd get a 1 hr 40 minute transit.
Consider that at 5AU, you'd have an extra 1/5 of time when part of Alpha Centauri B's disc overlaps A's disc, so that's 30 minutes.
For 40AU, it's 2.5 extra minutes and is negligible.
There, with simplifying assumptions it's over pretty quicky.
The eclipse would take between 20 and 120 minutes.
