For many games on end, I had been freezing after 15-20 minutes.
I read through the forums yesterday, and this morning changed the mouse from the Microsoft wireless optical mouse, to a wired older Logitech.
Then, hours of play with absolutely no problems.
BTW, before giving up the wireless mouse, I went to the MS website and downloaded their latest optical mouse drivers. They're not really new, dating from 2002. That didn't help one single bit.
This solution definitely worked for me, and I would recommend it other players who have an MS wireless mouse, and whose computers freeze while playing RON. Pull out the wireless mouse, and replace it with a wired version.
It seems as though MS is unable to support their game and their mouse simultaneously.
Should anyone be surprised?
