Nuking terrain at shoreline to dissappear?

I was thinking, would it be possible if say I nuked an enemy (they wouldnt be my friend if I Nuked them I guess ) at the shoreline..would I be able to make terrain dissapear?
It would be nice..afterall, drop a nuke at shore..see if you dont have a Big Old Crater..

Wait..I dont speak from experience..only mere speculation!!
