Hi,
I'm new to your boards. I stopped by to do some research on tech trees, but I figured I'd give something back, so here goes:
- If you're building a capital ship with a low military econ setting - say 20mil/80tek - it will take literally years to build, but if you are building a lesser ship with the same econ setting it will take considerable less time, right?
Well, if you queue a Star Fighter at 12mos then wait untill it's almost completed, and then change the order to a frigate, you get an almost completed frigate at a fraction of the time needed! *note: no change done to slider settings*
I found this by accident when I was pursuing an economic/trade strategy, but was attacked by the Drehngi(sp?) when I couldn't afford further tribute. I had been building defenders/SF's but suddenly I needed to queue-up some heavies...lo and behold I start getting frigates in just a few months!
Now, I don't know enough about the way this particular game mechanics work, but I played Civ:CtP a lot, and the queue/purchase system is almost the same here. With that said, there's got to be something wrong with the progress on one project carring over to the next.
There is no way that work on a fighter can be rolled into a capital ship...well maybe a bulkhead's worth, but you take my point.
I'm playing the retail version + the expansion that's in the downloads section on the Galciv site. I can't say if it's the expansion or the game itself, as I always patch to latest before firing-up a new game (no need to wade through fixed bugs eh?)
Has anyone else seen this bug/feature?
Cheers!
