As you might or might not have noticed, Paradox no longer only make great niche games, but also have had enormous success with their digital downloading service for games. New, often big, games are added by a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. And something even better: They trust their customers! You make an account, buy the game(s), download and install them and the patches through a pretty good downloader program. You need internet when you download and install the games, but not after that. And you can install the game on as many computers as you want. Even on machines without the internet, by installing on one with internet and then just copying the whole thing over on an USB pen and transfer. Really refreshing to get this amount of trust from a gaming company.
Anyway, as said they have a great number of quality games, both from small and big companies. And look at their newest partner:
GamersGate to Digitally Release Select Atari, Inc. Games in North America
New York, USA (September 7, 2007) – GamersGate announced today that it has entered into an agreement with global publisher and developer Atari, Inc. The deal will allow Atari, Inc. to digitally connect with a worldwide audience through the rapidly growing digital distribution platform provided by GamersGate.
“Atari is the perfect partner for us, as we continue our climb to become one of the top digital download sites in the world,” said Theodore Bergquist, CEO of Paradox Interactive and GamersGate. “The company and its affiliates have an impressive portfolio and we are thrilled to see Atari take an active role in offering their customers a digital distribution option”.
Atari plans to release some of its PC portfolio through GamersGate, giving gamers access to old back-catalogue favorites such as Masters of Orion® 3, Act of War: High Treason and Desperados® 2 in addition to new and popular games like The Witcher™. .
“Digital distribution is a huge growth area globally, and for Atari Inc., in particular,” said Nizzi Renaud, vice president of web development and content, Atari, Inc. “We are particularly excited by the chance to make some of our PC titles available on GamersGate and to cement our relationship with their gaming audience.”
The first titles in the Atari and GamersGate agreement are scheduled for release today.
