Apolyton Civilization Site ( http://apolyton.net ) [ACS], one of the oldest and premiere online fansites for the Civilization computer strategy gaming series and its extended family, is today publishing the first part of their audio interview series with Stan Karpinski on The Ages of Man, an extensive Call to Power II modification that many argue stands as a successor to the series it is based on. This instalment is 40m:42s in length and 19.5MB in filesize.Karpinski is interviewed by ACS Co-Owner/Administrator Daniel "DanQ" Quick as part of ACS` "Game Developer Series" (GDS) served through its Radio (ACSR) service. Quick is also ACSR`s Station Manager. In this first of a four-part verbal chat with Karpinski, AoM`s Project Lead, the focus is on the series' first title released last year. Topics discussed on it include but are not limited to its origins and foundations, features, copyrights and comparisons to related games.
To coincide with the start of this GDS set, Quick also wrote and recorded a nearly five-minute "Call to Power Series Primer" clip that introduces -- or refreshes, as the case may be -- the history of the series upon which AoM is based.
A two-minute promo for Part 2 of Karpinski`s interview will begin broadcasting on demand on ACS on January 31st, with the full 42m:35s segment to follow on February 7th. All GDS and related broadcasts are streamed on-demand at 64kbps in MP3 format. For best results, ACS recommends the Winamp application from Nullsoft.
