  • What is the second number in: "STEAL_TECHNOLOGY 0.5 0.25 0.25"

    Dear all,

After playing quite some time, I came to the wish to give Nobles and Diplomats the ability to steal technologies, too.

Reason: Spies are coming relatively late in the game in case you are well behind your enemies in terms of science, therefore I think it is a fair idea to offer early in the game the opportunity to steal technologies. Of course I want to make Diplomats and Nobles less strong in terms of stealing technologies, this is why I will lower success probabilites for them.

Looking at the line "STEAL_TECHNOLOGY 0.5 0.25 0.25" coming from the Cyber-Ninja unit, I understand that the first number is the success chance (i.e. in 50% of the cases, a Cyber-Ninja will successfully steal an advance).

I also think (based on analogies with inciting revolts) that the third number is the chance of getting killed in case there was no success in stealing an advance.

What is the second number standing for ? I have two possible explanations:

    1. Success chance for stealing a specific advance and not just ordering the unit to steal some advance. Unfortunately, there is a similar line with three numbers for inciting revolts, however there is no such thing like a specified incite order. Therefore I can not believe that this explanation is true.

    2. Chance of getting killed even if stealing was successful.

Does anyone out there has a clue ? I already looked in Harlan's list of unit flags with no success.

    Thanks for helping,
    TP
