We need a test of how well TIFFs go up in Java. Can someone please please run a timing test soon? I found a Sun API, the Java Advanced Imaging API that looks, upon cursory inspection, to handle 24-bit tiffs. The main page for it is at http://www.javasoft.com/products/jav...jai/index.html . I unfortunately am running around like a maniac, and don't have time to check it out and do timing tests. If we could put this one to bed it would be really great.
