OOC: Before I get started Googlie and someone else gave me a positive reaction for this. So here goes.
The flag of the Peacekeeping Forces flapped in the sea breeze. The color seemingly drained from it. Off to the side flapped the more colored flag of the Free Drones. An old man followed by his family, walked slowly but proudly toward the Cemetary of the Many Soldiers. The light of the double suns streamed down on the man as he grabbed a tree for support. The memories were overwhelming. He staggered forward gazing across the forest of crosses, and Jewish stars. A Free Drone veteran in full dress uniform was standing by one of the graves. The man's eyes started to tear up and he fell to his knees.
"Dad?" his son shouted with concern as the whole family hurried to catch up with him. The man stared intently at one gravestone not moving as his memory carried him back all those fateful years.

UN Beach
Dog Green Sector
The waves pounded the beach washing across the anit-grav hedgehogs that lined the beach. A misting rain fell on this overcast day. Out to sea a large group of amphibious vehicles made their way toward shore. Filled with Peacekeeping soldiers. Captain John Miller unscrewed the top off his canteen with a shaky hand and took a drink. Elsewhere among the soldiers one vomited from fear, inducing one of his comrades to follow suit.
"Clear the ramps, thirty seconds" yelled the watch. Miller looked up.
"Horseside 6, Garbageside 6, get back and clear those motorholes" ordered Miller. Sergeant Mike Horvath stood in the landing craft giving the final orders before landing.
"There's plenty of beach per man. 5 men to shoot is opppurtunity, 1 man is a waste of ammo" yelled Horvath above the engine's din. All of a sudden the landing craft stopped. Artillery explosions could be heard by the men in the landing crafts. More soldiers vomited and many prayed silently or fingered their rosaries. Two men stepped up and began to turn the wheels on the motorholes. The ramps descended and the beach could be seen.
Immediatly the first few rows of men were blown to bits by shredder fire. Miller was pushing men out of the craft yelling orders.
"Go, go" he screamed above the din of battle. Soldiers began to jump out the sides of the craft and into the Chiron seas. The Usurper seawall was a formidable defense. Men in the water struggeled to free themsleves from the heavy packs they were wearing and others were hit by incoming bullets. Miller grabbed a struggling soldier and began to make his way to shore. Shredder bullets were flying everywhere. He took up hiding behind one of the hedgehogs.
"We've got to.." the soldier was cut off as a bullet hit him in he chest. Miller pushed him back toward the incoming surf. Up above the Usurpers fired indiscriminatly on the Peacekeeper soldiers. Artillery explosions added to the chaos. Dead bodies lay everywhere. One man had his leg blown off in an explosion. Miller made his way to another hedgehog. As he looked out things seemed to go in slow motion. One soldier cowered behind a hedgehog attempting to avoid shredder fire, another man carrying a flamethrower was hit killing himself and two other soldiers, as a spray of blood hit him Miller turned to see one soldier wandering around as if in a daze. The soldier reached down and picked up his own arm before wandering away. One of the landing craft had been hit by a shell and flaming men ran from it screaming.
Miller put on his helmet. He saw one soldier saying something to him, but it was if he could not hear him. Finally sound and senses seemed to return.
"I said what the hell do we do now, sir!" the soldier yelled. Miller looked around.
"Cap'n Miller, Cap'n Miller" yelled Sergeant Horvath waving his arm to attract attention. Miller noticed and replied.
"Sergeant Horvath, move your men off this beach" he screamed.
"All right you guys, get out of my ass and follow me" yelled Horvath to his men. They begin to move.
"What's the rallying point?" yelled another soldier to Miller.
"Anywhere but here" was the reply. They begin to move up the bach as Usurper fire rained down on them.
"The seawall, move up to the seawall" yelled Miller. The Usurper gunners continued to fire mercilessly. One soldier lay on the beach with his guts surrounding him. The push continued. Miller found one soldier laying screaming on the beach.
"I'm hit low sir" he yelled pitifully. Miller looked around.
"Medic, medic" he yelled. Another soldier appeared beside him.
"Navy Beach Battalion, sir. I have to clear these obstacles, make holes for the tanks."
"All the armor is foundering in the sea" yelled Miller. The soldier replied.
"Orders, sir. You go somewhere else, I've got this one" he yelled. Miller advanced forward dragging the wounded soldier. An artillery explosion knocked him to the ground. He got up and continued, but tripped and fell. He looked back and realized the wounded soldier now had no legs. He grimaced and continued forward. As he did other soldiers fell in behind him. They advanced toward the seawall amidst wounded soldiers and shell craters. Miller now near the seawall grabbed the communications man.
"220. No armor has made it ashore. We've got no DDT tanks, Dog 1 is NOT open" Miller said.
"Who's in command here?" he yelled. One soldier replied.
"You are sir."
"Mike do you recognize were we are?" yelled Miller to Horvath.
"Right were we're supposed to be sir, but no one else is" came the reply. Miller turned back to the comm man.
"Shore party. First wave, inneffective. We do not hold the beach, say again, we do not hold the beach" yelled Miller. Horvath yelled something to him and another soldier came rolling his way. Miller turned back to the comm officer.
"Shore pary, shore party" he stopped when he realized that the man had no face. He recoiled in disgust for a moment and than grabbed the comm unit.
"Gad af, gad af" he started, than stopped when he saw the unit had taken shredder fire. He tossed it away. Two more soldiers came running up and jumped for cover.
"Reiben here sir" yelled one.
"See anybody else?" queried Horvath.
"Jackson, but that's about it" replied Reiben.
"Mellish here" yelled another one.
"Caparzo" yelled yet another. Caparzo yelled something about Wade their medic. Wade was across the beach trying to stop the bloodflow on a wounded soldier.
"Hold on to someone you can help" said Wade.
Miller, Horvath, and Reiben were yelling at him, but he didn't notice. He and two other medics were desperatly working on the wounded man. Finally headway.
"I stopped the bleeding, I stopped the bleeding" he yelled. Just than an Usurper bullet hit the man in the head. Wade threw the bandaging onto the sand and started screaming.
"Give us a ****ing chance, you stupid ****ing son.." he trailed off as Miller grabbed him and dragged him blubbering to the cover point. He and Horvath debated the location fo ceratin units. One panicked soldier yelled.
"They're killing us and we don't have a ****ing chance" he yelled. Horvath yelled something and an explosion went off. Miller called for an ammo check.
"Bangalores, bring up some Bangalores" yelled Miller. Two soldiers came running up.
"Jackson here, sir" yelled one. The other pulled out a fresh battery for his gatling rifle. The assembled Bangalore was quickly shoved into position and lighted. One soldier was hit in the helmet, he took it off and stared at it in wonder.
"Lucky bastard" commented Caparzo. Just than the soldier was shot in his unprotected head.
"Bagalores, clear the shingles" yelled Miller.
"Fire in the hole" one soldier yelled. Everyone echoed this and covered. Wade instinctvely covered his patient as well. The explosion sent up a shower of red Chiron sand.
"We're in business Devil 8, I'll assign a hole" yelled Horvath. All the soldiers piled out from the cover point and ran toward the Usurper bunker. Wade and anothe medic reviewed the wounded.
"Inspect him, Routine, Priortiy, he's gone." Meanwhile Miller and the rest arrived below the Usurper bunker. Miller peeked around the corner.
"Mellish your bayonet" said Miller. Mellish handed him his knife and than gave Miller his gum. Miller attached the gum to the bayonet and put a small mirror on it. He peeked around the corner at the Usurper weaponry.
"Two Res lasers, two mortars, right 20, left 30" he said. Horvath came around and had a look.
"Reiben, Mellish let's get into the war. Grab some cover and put some fire on that crew" said Miller.
"Covering fire" he yelled. Gatling blasts and pulse bullets flew toward the Usurper firing crew. Mellish, Reiben, and a few others crawled out and ran forward. Horvath took another look.
"It's a ****ing firing squad" he said. Miller turned to Jackson.
"Jackson, you see that impact crater over there? That should give you complete defelè from fire. Now get out there and put some fire on them" said Miller. Miller walked out into plain view of the Usurpers.
"Go, go" he yelled and than ducked. The Usurper fire as hoped came directed for him. Jackson sprinted quickly into positon avoiding fire from the Usurpers.
"Captain if your mother saw you do that she'd be very upset" said Horvath.
"I thought you were my mother" replied Miller. Jackson took out one of the Usurpers. Meanwhile chaplains worked with the dead and dying on the beach. Another shot from Jackson destabilized the crew.
"We're in business" yelled Horvath and again the sprint forward. Now Peacekeeping soldiers were trading fire with the Usurpers from the trenches. Miller and his men approached a bunker. They took cover and tossed in two plasma grenades. After the explosion they came out annd waited. One Usurper soldier cam running out and he was blown away by gatling fire. A moment later two more ran out and suffered the same fate. All of them hopped down and took up positon. One soldier carrying a flamethrower approached and fired. Flames shot out of the bunker and flaming Usurper soldier threw themsleves out.
"Don't shoot, let the alien ***ches burn" one soldier screamed. His men complied. Over at the trenches Usurper soldiers were starting to surrender. The Peacekeepers quickly took them prisoner. However some weren't so lucky. A few running through the trenches were almost vaporized by a fusilade of Peackeeper gatling fire. Miller was talking on a portable comm device.
"Sugar Ray, this is Sugar Charlie, Dog 1 is open" he said. Off in the distance two Usurper soldiers appeared trying to surrender. Two Peackeeper soldiers approached them. However they didn't understand resonance.
"What I can't understand you? What?" one yelled. Finally both of them opened fire killing the Usurpers. As they knelt beside the bodies one yelled to the other.
"What did he say?" he yelled.
"Look I washt for shupper" the other said and begin to laugh. Miller reviewed this coldly but said nothing. Caparzo, clearing out the trenches looked up.
"Hey Mitch take a look at this. It's a Usurper knife" he said. Mellish took the knife.
"Oh and now it's a shai'al ika huh?" he said. Than he collapsed to his knees and started to sob, overcome by the whole event. Horvath was scooping dirt into a small can. He put a lid marked Drone on it and added it to a colection of other cans marked Angel, and Morgan. He than looked up. Miller unscrewed the top off his canteen with a shaking hand.
"Quite a view" remarked Horvath.
"Yes it is. Quite a view" said Miller quietly, looking up. The beach was littered with the corpses of dead soldiers, dead Chiron silver fish, and equipment. The waves that now beat the shore were red with blood. And anonimously laying among the corpses was one whose pack said RYAN S.
