This was kind of amusing. I created an Aquatic faction that starts with Advanced Ecological Engineering (Super Formers) but not Centauri Ecology. The workshop created a Super Gun Foil with the two yellow "horns" that Super Formers get. Acts just like a Gun Foil in all respects, just looks really odd. No way to get rid of it either.
On another topic: I WAS able to create (contrary to what I mentioned in another thread) a faction with multiple FUNGNUTRIENTS, FUNGMINERALS, FUNGENERGY. Don't know what went wrong the first time.
