Bug - map revealed during PBEM?

So we got our PBEM started and now one of the players reported that the map got revealed somehow.

I remember reading something about a bug like this while browsing either the forum or the archive here, but don't remember details and for sure can't find the thread again with the search function.

Any help/explanation/fix for this?
