Well actually my criticism wasn't so much with the artist but the fact the production was, as per usual, second rate with little concern for health and safety.

I remember watching a program about him and that he was not best of friends with the Chinese regime. I'm sure if he didn't have such a high international profile he would "disappear" quite quickly.

Actually his studio was destroyed because he's a well-known critic of the Chinese gov'ment. You should be rooting for this guy. In fact he's quite a remarkable artist. His work supercedes the Hirsts and other crowdpleasing attention whores calling the shots in today's art world.

Also: art = suffering, so quit the whining about lead paint and dive in already

I never even bothered going that far in my analysis. It's modern art - it doesn't mean sh*t despite how the creators try to protest otherwise.

Care to find me a circuit board in a modern PC or Mac that was not made in China?

From acquaintences that have done business buying direct from plants there, you tell them what you want and they tell you how much it costs. You are a stupid **** if you then ask them to cut the price. They will cut the price, and some of them will cut whatever else needs to be cut to make the deal.

Is it their fault for doing what the client wants? Making it cheaper? Safety standards are on the vendor ordering the **** and about to sell it in the relevant market. The Chinese make **** for whomever wants to pay them to make ****. It is not their problem if vendors are dumbasses who do not know what they are dealing with.

That said. I will not eat food that is a product of China. I do not have faith in the regulatory regime and food is a little too personal to take risks with, but a computer?
