  • Terrain Question

Hi. I have hung around this board for awhile, but this is my first time posting.

I have a problem with a terrain issue. Is it possible to edit terrain so that it can't be used by ground units, like an ocean square. The idea is that I want to have a map that contains ocean squares but also has a wall type of terrain that ground units can't move on. I imagine this is something that is coded into the game and can't be changed, but if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thx.

you can try to give to this terrain an high movement point request ( i.e. 30 ? ), but still there's a chanche a units can travel on it...

Only in Test of Time. There are various ways to simulate impassible terrain in FW/MGE, eg. immobile air units or pollution that looks like terrain over ocean, but only ToT has real impassable terrain.

As I recall, a zero-move air unit will do the trick so long as you're not going to create the possibility of air warfare (i.e. not modern or futuristic). Test of Time will allow you to make impassable terrain by editing rules.txt.

I solved the problem a different way. I just made the squares actual ocean squares then put a 0 movement "unit" over it with the artwork changed to resemble a land square with a wall built on it. Maybe not the best solution, but so far it is doing the trick. Thx for the replies.
