It may be a moot point, but I did in error write that Huidferk may have been the Eastern settlement, when I meant Western/Northern/smaller. But since you show that to be an eastern settlement farm...

I have three modern maps with town locations from the era. I may scan them this afternoon and email them over just in case they are helpful. One is a trading map that may help with commodities. One is Iceland, and one is detail from the Eastern Greenland settlement.

    Cheers

If you can find Penguin Atlas of Medieval History, do so.

Hmmm...so I will have to go hunting for Penguins? What an odd turn of events...

          To be serious again:
I got your point. But that could be difficult. There aren't that many english bookstores in town. Maybe I'm lucky.

Sten, I have quite some time. I'll be working on units and icons first. You won't have ti hurry anything.

If you get Time magazine in The Netherlands, which I hope you do, there's a recent issue about Vikings in it. It's May 8, 2000 Issue.

Neither National Geographic Magazin nor Time Magazin have arrived here, yet.
I will have to wait for a week probally.
              Thanks anyway!

Well, before I buy them I can always take a look inside before I decide.

I almost forgot how hard it is to draw some decent and good looking units. I haven't made any for the last few month so I'm totally out of practice. I just spend 3 hours on a single unit just to throw it into the trash-can afterwards!
Then I also have to re-do the map again because it really is too small. I found that out through "playtesting". To get to Canada just isn't taking long enough.

This will take longer than planed...

At least I'm almost finished with the terrain files. Only thing missing are some of the resources.

                Edit:
What do you think of this?

I am a fan of plaid fabric!

                  seriously, it looks pretty good.

The NatGeo article was a little bit of a disappointment to me. Though the Norse mythology drawing around the borders of the map is pretty cool. I got it last week and immediately poured over it, but it doesn't have very much in it. IIRC there was a much better one a couple of years ago about the Swedish vikings in the Baltic and Russia.

                        Great to hear!

If you like plaid fabric Sten wait till you get to see the other units.

And Bernd, when I need you assistance I will definitly get in touch with you. I just thought you want to relax for a while after your recent effort with your latest scenario creation.

For all who want to know I began making a better map today that's both bigger and does show a larger portion of the world to play on. Well, a bit more...

Four maps and an extra baby photo thrown in for good measure. Let me know if they are legible.

Today school started again and I went to our library right away only to find that there was no "Bildatlas der Weltgeschichte". Only some other Atlases that had no new information for me.

Sten, I would like to know when the scanner man returns. If it is in 2 or 3 weeks only I'll start on something else but I would like to get the map done properly now so I can stop worrying about it. Besides it would help with placing the resources and the trading commodities...

Progress report: The new map is almost finished. Only the resource placement is still un-finished. Also I draw some new units along with a new city style which still does need a lot of improvement before I show it to anyone.

He is back today. I'll give him a couple of hours to do last weeks work, and then demand that he drop everything and help out. Sometimes it is good to be an "executive"

I just saw them and they look good. No problems whatsoever.

The photo of the small little viking looks best of course!

                                Thanks a lot!
