  • I'm desperate. I need someone. Something. An idea!

Help me. I want to do a new scenario concerning Achaemenid Persia. It's gotta be something new. Something exciting. Something great. But I don't know what. Please. Does anyone have an idea? Anyone?

    I don't know. How about Franco-Prussian War?

Well if you don't mind delving into the fantasy realm, how about something involving Zoroaster, Ahura Mazda, & Mithras? Some kind of "Final Battle" between Light and Dark? If you dig into that ancient religion, you can probably come up with lots of real cool stuff that most people have never heard of. Plus, since the religion is pretty much extinct, you won't have fanatics threatening you about it. Hmmmm. How DID something so popular vanish almost without a trace? I sense darker forces at work......

Now I know exactly what is the most boring piece of land in the world ever. It is ancient Persia. My god, person, do something different than just same old Persia, Persia, Persia! Something!
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency

Techumseh: I'm still working on it, but sometimes I feel like I need a break and get back to something with which I feel so familiar as with Persia. BTW, I'm still waiting for your eMail with the latest batch of units!

Kull: You always give me the best ideas. Why not? Reminds me of the struggle between Ahura Mazda and Angra Manyu. But I only have one book about Persian myths and this one takes only a little place in it. Could you possibly find some websites about that?

Stefu: I've heard that incredibly often. But ancient Persia is not boring. If you'd get a book (with pictures and maps), do a little reading and so, I'm sure you'll at least find some respect for this civilization!

I think you should do Iran II, a fun but slightly achronological scenario similar to Jesus Balsinde's Mexico II.

In Mexico II the Aztecs start out with only one city, Tenochitlan,(I think they started with three in objective-less 1.0) and go on to build wonders and conquer objectives. The AI starts out with a couple large objective cities and an army of settlers to expand with. It culminates with the almost impossible to defeat invasion of the Spaniards.:-)

              Here's another thought:

Take a good look at Red Front, and use a similar technique to create an Alexander Scenario with the Persians as the protagonists!

I must agree with stefu. Why don't you try something new for a change? You probaly have made more scenarios about persia than the rest of the civ community put together. Even though their history is very exiting.
You should finish your Franco-Prussian War or do that scenario about German East-Africa for a change.

And remember, it's best to stop doing something when it is the most fun! And not to wait till you yourself are fed up with it.

                    OK, people. Here's the deal:
Pharaoh should be out any minute now on Alex' War Gallery.
I'm doing the Franco-Prussian War and I'll pick up on my La Conquista scenario sometime in the near future.
But sometimes, I'm just not in the mood for these things. Don't worry, I'll do them, but I'm gonna do something on Persia at the meantime.

Kull: Great links! I'm downloading the complete Avesta on English right now! Wow!
