  • City style for barbarians

    Hello,
Is there any way to change the city style for barbarian cities only?
In my new scenario, all barbarian cities have the same city style as the "first" civ, for me the Byzantinians (renamed Romans). This is really irritating.
Has anyone an idea to solve this problem?

    BeBro,

The Barbarians use the first set of designs by default.

You should in theory be able to change the city designs of the other tribes by amending the leaders section in rules.txt. If there is another set of designs that you don't intend to use (e.g.'Far East'), copy the 'Classical' designs over that, make the leaders switch, and amend the Barbarian city designs to fit your preferences.

You can alternatively start tinkering around with the technologies in rules.txt and use the industrial or modern city designs by giving specific tribes 'industrialisation' or 'automobile + electronics' respectively. For instance, you can switch all of the normal tech flow that uses 'industrialisation' towards a 'user defined technology' or 'plumbing' - rename it, and change 'industrialisation' (the original) to 'no,no'.

Thank You very much, Cam. With Your help, I was able to create a special Babarian city style with some nice ruins...
      It works fine.
