  • "Red Dawn" Scenario

Does anyone know if a scenario exists based on the 80s movie "Red Dawn?" Yes, lots of it was propaganda trash, IMHO, but it could nonetheless provide an intriguing pretext for a fun scenario.

I remember some parts of the movie that could translate into a scenario:

    Americans: Lots of Partisans
    Soviet Civ: Good aircraft
    Soviet Allies Civ (Cubans, Nicaraguans?)

Perhaps one could take liberties with the events file to reflect the movie plot. Seems like there's room for lots of creativity here.

Then again, perhaps one already exists. Dunno.

So you watched that movie just the other day on TNT too, huh? Well I say screw it. The whole thing was inplausable and trash. And it also did have the usual propaganda thing of dozens of enemy soldiers walking into enemy fire, and who themselves wen to the "Stromtrooper Marksmanship Academy". If you want too play a game like that, there are any number of dumb first-person shooters that can satisfy you because a scenario would be just as weak, cause there would be no chance it could happen or succeed for the communists.

I bet you're like me in that there are so few movies made during the whole cold war that involved any conflicts with the enemy that you'll settle for anything. Would it make you happy if I went through with a scenario I have been thinking about for a long time? Would you like to help?

I hope I didn't sound so mean. I'm just bitter at Hollywood. What movies do they make based on Tom Clancy novels? Rising Sun and NetForce? Where the hell is Red Storm Rising? Damn!

I'm not 100% sure this is it, but try:

...it's super-old and not really great, so I bet you can do better if it's the one I remember.

Red Storm has some good points, but more bad ones- A larger map would definitely be a plus. However, I did take some of the units from it and put them on my Desert Storm scenario, so I am glad it's around.
