Any fun nations to play as? I've tried some one province minors, but they can be boring and the game takes a weird path that I don't like, such as the game where the Golden Horde took over all of Novgorod and a huge chunk of Eastern Europe while the papal states took over italy, sicily, some northern africa, and a chunk of Milan. This keeps happening.
