  • (Vicky) Nation Suggestions

I've been on a Victoria-playing binge recently, and now I need suggestions for a new country to play. I just finished a game as Uruguay, building a nice, sizeable empire in South America. I'm looking for something that has potential, but isn't super-powerful from the beginning. I'd also like to be able to do a little colonization, but not make it my only path for expansion.

    So, any suggestions?

There aren't many countries like that outside of south america, unfortunetly.

Spain is one of the weaker majors, though. You might enjoy them. Or one of the italian minors.

Or you could try Japan. I've always found them boring, though.

Belgium? It's small, with great potential, and not too far from being a major, if managed properly. It has colonization opportunities too.

Sardinia-Piedmont (sp?) in Italy can be fun, though the Italian unification can be a bit difficult to handle at times, if France and/or Austria act weirdly.

I finally got a copy of Victoria as a gift. Unfortunately, it's the MAC version.

Sardinia-Pierdomnt is a good one, the Unification is quite straight-forward yet challenging (I managed it by 1839, and it's been done earlier then that). Play one of the Germanics, Bavaria or something, see if you can pull off unification through conquest.

I played as Denmark recently and dedicated my game to bringing the German menace to heel. Ended up annexing most of the Germanic states into Greater Denmark, unfortunately I couldn't do all I wanted by the end becauase most of Europe seemed to then copnsider me a dangerous expansionist threat

I was only trying to help, Germans must be Controlled I tell you, Controlled!!! I'm not obsessed or anything.
