Creating a sequel to Colonization

There's a group of people at civgaming.net that have started brainstorming about creating a sequel to that classic game Colonization.

A couple years ago I heard about someone (on Sidgames?) but nothing ever came of it. I would love a sequel to Colonization...and certainly happy to do any Beta testing required.
