  • Anyone playing RISK?

Years ago, in another life, I played the board game RISK quite often. But I've never tried RISK I. I've just looked at Gamespot's preview of RISK II and thought it looked very promising (for someone who likes the original RISK).

I was curious as to whether the many blood-thirsty Civ2 players were playing it as well? And how does RISK II look to you folk?

I doubt if my old machine can even run RISK II but it's interesting. Or: is there something even better out there?

I used to play RISK, very fun and addictive board game!

Only tried the electronic version a couple of times on my brother's Nintendo or Playstation (or whatever it was). Still OK, but not as fun as the original.

Didn't know about the upcoming sequel, I'm heading right over there to read about it...

Have you heard of a game called Stratego?

Yeah, I have played both Risk and Stratego (board and PC). They're fun but playing them cuts into my CivII play time.

I've played the older version of risk and the board game both many times each.

Of the newer version you speak of I know nothing.

However I do have Axis and Allies and think it is better than risk. But as I think about it I haven't played it in quite a while, so how good can it really be? Fun for a while but I'm in no hurry to try it again anytime soon.

Yeah, I've played Risk and Stratego: both pretty fun games. Have you ever played the Caslte Risk variation of Risk? (Similar game, played on the map of Napoleonic Europe).

Personally, risk with many players always seems to degenerate into a chaos game eventually: everyone stops playing to win, and plays only to mess over who ever's doing good...

As for computer games like risk, my vote definately goes to world empires:basically risk with some twists, and every country in the world...

Must be that socialist utopia you are living in W4E. The rest of us can still buy it if we want.

This site doesn't have Castle Risk, but it has a TON of other board game stuff. The list is text in alpha order. They are in Oregon, USA, and I'm not sure if they ship to weird places like the Union of Canadian Socialist Republics...

I, too, tried to find a link to Castle Risk using webcrawler, but no success. Gee, it must be frustrating to live behind the Iron Curtain and yet be so close to freedom and liberty.

Here is a Royal Canadian Mountee approved game store web site from Calgary.

They don't have Castle Risk listed either, but at least they might understand your accent when you call.

I play risk. Mainly the computer version of course. It's much faster. Same with Axis and Allies. I usually play fixed sets (not the increasing). This seems to make winning based more on stategy, and less on luck (based on which time a person makes a set)

Risk, A & A, Stratego, heaps of cardgames and now Catan.
I think playing a boardgame with your friends beats Civ II MP.
