In the end it really depends on someone's
personal preferences. I have purchased SMAC and looked forward to playing it.
After my first game I was disappointed. It
is a beautifully designed game. There are many features I like but it does not capture my imagination the way Civ did. I think
Civilization and Call to Power will appeal to those who love history in their game while
SMAC will appeal to those who love strategy alone or Sci Fi in their game.
