  • 2 Sessions of CTP II was enough for me

I got this game for Christmas, played 2 sessions and then went back to civ 2. The reason was the weak ai. It was far too easy to defeat. I got bored. I even left my capital unguarded without realising it for several centuries but it was never threatened.

I'll probably have another go when they fix the multiplayer problems. This game has potential in that area but they need to fix the bugs.

Well AH, it looks like Activision isn't going to do it now (see the thread by MarkG). Your best bet now will be the CtP2-creation forum.

Hey Mark, you should multiplay civ 2 with us some day.

Notice Alexander said CIV II and not CTP2!

The original posts keep coming in...

Why should you leave CTP2 after two sessions? I modified a little, got all those great files from the files section, and voilá: a porr game becomes a great game . And not a penny wasted...

I wouldn't go that far Floris, the multiplay option on CTP2 is still broken....sure, with the file fixes the single player game IS much, much better. But if you want to play against another human, your still out of luck

AH is your typical stuck-in-the-mud civ2 multiplayer.
For that group of people, CTP2 just doesn't cut it.

Oh well I suppose it wont really matter what we played when civ3 comes out.
Destruction is a lot easier than construction. The guy who operates a wrecking ball has a easier time than the architect who has to rebuild the house from the pieces.--- Immortal Wombat.

I completely agree phoenixcager, without multiplayer support, CTP2 DOES NOT and WILL NOT cut it for me.

Yes I AM a die hard multiplayer...I want the human wild card in the games I play

And yes, I DO have high hopes for CIV3

I think it is almost impossible to come up with an ai that is competitive against a competent human player but this one doesn't come close. I can't believe they would release a TBS game with a multiplayer interface that doesn't work.
