  • Is this too soon of Discoveries?

I am in the year of 20BC and I have discovered Industrial Revolution. I am just starting the modern erea. isnt this a bit too soon? I am playing on an earth world (made from omni if i am not mistaken but added my own ruins.) I found a bit of tech from the ruins but my rate of research is about 10-12 turns. Isnt this a bit fast?

Should I play my next game with no ruins? i like ruins espisally when barbians come out and attack.

What you need to do is to slow down your research rate, and the best way to do that is to slow down your rate of gold, and the best way to do that is to change how much wages are.

Look for the file Const.txt. Inside, set the two variables to the following values...

    UNIT_WAGES 2.0 # what does 1 notch mean
BASE_WAGES 10.0 # gold per person when slider is zero

This made for a more realistic rate.

Rate of discovery is inversely proportional to difficulty level. Higher difficulties will have a much slower rate of discovery.

I'm finding the opposite to be the problem on Impossible difficulty, as you might expect. It just irks me that an empire 1/4 the size of mine is making discoveries every 3 turns, where it takes me 15 turns! I even have Aristotle's Lycium! He'll probably beat me to Internet, since he seems able to build a Wonder in 3-4 turns.

I haven't played Ctp2 only Ctp, so it kinda makes for bad comparison, but I am able to build cities that can churn out genetic/diamond age wonders in 5 turns, so it's not at all impossible.
You know the question, just as I did.
        What is the matrix?
