    I have a few questions about userprofile.txt and profile.txt:

    1. Which file overlaps which file? What if there are differences between the two?

    2. Should I turn DebugSlic on?

    3. How does cheatage work? It hasn't worked with me yet.

    4. What does Prophylaxis mean? What does UseNiceStart mean?

      1. Don't know, would guess userprofile, but I doubt there are any conflicts.

      2. Only if you are doing slic coding for a mod and can't get things to work, like me.

      3. Cheatage is what happens when you ignore your girlfriend for too long by playing silly video games all day. Be thankfull you haven't run into it yet.

      4. Prophylaxis is a drug used to treat a rare thyroid disorder, please read the label on the bottle before consuming pills.

      5. Nicestart - just a guess, but in previous civs the other civs would immediatly send out massive hoards of nuclear weapons to obliterate you in the first turns of the game. I think it prevents the AI from doing just that and waiting till you get a good enough head start to beat them before they play rough, usually this take anywhere between 2-5 turns, depends how quickly you build a city.

LOL, kormer. Let's see if I can give some more useful answers though...

        1. I don't think anyone knows for sure exactly what the relation between these two is but normally userprofile.txt should be the most important one. Any changes you want to make should be made there, if you don't have any luck with that, try changing profile.txt as well.

        2. Should always be on or many of the texts in the game will look weird.

        3. I suspect it will make the game start in another age, so age 2 should make the game start in the modern age instead of ancient, but I don't know if it actually works.

        4. Prophylaxis: no clue. Odd thing is that the default value was Yes in CtP1 and it's No in CtP2.

UseNiceStart: IIRC this gives the best of all available starting locs to human, turning it off will make this random, or something like that anyway.

More info: http://apolyton.net/ctp/modification/profile_faq.shtml (it's for CtP1 but a lot of it still applies to CtP2).

The userprofile.txt is created the first time you play the game. It contains all the game variables that you set in the start screens, etc.
