    Turn 47 to Madrid.

    My Children,

I, in my infinite wisdom, have deigned to ease the strain upon your eyes by creating a new Thread. Please indulge an aged Saint by Posting here in future.

I hope soon that my Missionary will arrive at the gates of a Welsh City to further spread the light of my Love for Mankind. I eagerly await the visit of the Mythical Inca envoy so that all remaining doubts over their existance can be dispelled.

    Love Eternal,
St Jon, Joy in a World of Sorrow.

    To Stavros of the Australians,

It is unfortunate that I cannot accede to your demands as this territory is already Spanish and has been for some time since the foundation of two seperate settlements by Spain in the area...

If you had accepted our offer of a map exchange some time ago, perhaps this unfortunate misunderstanding might not have happened in the first place as we would have been able to ratify our borders with ease...

I also find it hard to believe that you had already discovered that river area before sending the Phalanx - were you checking it was still there?

I don't know where your cities lie, so how can I agree to a border when your cities may lie a great distance away? Certainly your Empire seems far flung in that Darwin, Brisbane and Sydney (for example) seem to cover a vast area I need some form of proof to believe you are this far south too!

Madrid is not trying to be difficult, but you must be able to back up your demands with substance - especially when Spanish interests are already so firmly ensconced in the area... I ask you now out of friendship to turn back your Phalanx and offer a map exchange so that we can settle this issue fairly and amicably...

To my good neighbors of Spain and Australia:

We offer the use of the Incan border city, RA-Tapul, for a summit meeting between your great nations regarding this border dispute that has surfaced.

Turn 48 to St. Jon --

St. Jon, Did you want to turn this game - LC - into a rated one starting on turn 50? If so, it would be great to have the Spanish, the Welsh, and the Greek leaders to become rated also . I am sure they are all Deity players (21.000), but just to confirm would be good.

The Incan people look forward to actually seeing a representative from Greece. The streets will be lined with spectators upon his arrival, but do not be alarmed. The Inca are very curious to see a dignitary of the fabled Greek lands.

We see that the Australian diplomat has made his way north to RA-Tapul. May we offer him a night's stay in our humble city? He is very welcome.

              Turn 48 to Madrid.

Brother Tomas, I am deeply moved that your selfless committment to our mutual struggle against Sin and Ungodly practises has caused you to send a Pikeman to protect my Settler. You are truly a Man of God!

My Congregation in the fair City of Rennes waxed delerious in delight as I blessed their new Bank at it's opening ceremony. My Flock have laboured long and hard in the pursuit of their adoration of me and were deeply in need of a place to deposit their donations as the population has grown to the point where the Collection Boxes simply were too small. My Love does indeed know no bounds.

              Blessings Upon You All,
              St Jon, Salvation amidst Sin.

                Brother Jon,

Indeed we always seek to provide escorts to foreign dignatories when they enter our lands...

It would seem that your settler has become momentarily disorientated and has accidentally strayed onto Spanish lands...

We kindly ask that you remind him that the sainted lands of France lie to the East.

It is, as always, a pleasure doing business with my esteemed neighbour and colleague of the cloth!

Such heresy! Quinns, to think that one can beat The Lord almighty himself and then be rated upon his ability!

                  Yeah ok then!

Ahhh! The Welsh... Greetings Welsh leader "The True One". Yes, how could I possibly think to "rate" someone for having a higher power graph rating than the Lord. What was I thinking!?

So Jon, will this game be "rated" come turn 50?

The True Demosthenes of the Welsh, would you be so kind as to welcome a diplomat from Inca in the near future (6 or 7 turns)? Only a small ocean separates us from your great nation. Our seasoned naval diplomat would be most pleased to meet with you.

                      Turn 48 to Quinns

Representatives of France and Spain have been observed holding some sort of "get-together" high in the mountains west of Dijon.

While the purpose of this shindig is not immediately apparent, it seems likely that it is a deeply spiritual matter, based on the reputations of the participants for piousness and deeply held religious convictions! Surely a great closeness will result betwen these two world leaders!

                        My Bedeviling Thomas...

You are right... It seems that I was lax in patrolling my borders, and you managed to slip in a settlement (on the border of an existing town I might add). Do you have the presumption to tell me that you didn't know there we now share city borders?

Nothing to be done. Can I expect a peacefull coexistance, or should I see this as a prelude to furthur expansion into my lands?

The appearance of a slaver in our forest does not reasure me in the least. Be quite wary of the path you wish to take, for you are truly in the heart of my teritiory...

                            Turn 49 to Madrid.

His Purity has asked that Brother Tomas note that he currently has Units North of our agreed Line of Demarkation. A Sacred Oath was made that France would not move beyond that Line and that has been honoured. It is hoped that the positioning of Spanish Military well above that point is merely a navigational error rather, perhaps a misreading of their current latitudinal position, than any deliberate attempt to provoke conflict for conflict's sake.

An offer was made to Madrid last Turn in the hope of averting any conflict of interests but it was with deep sorrow that no reply, not even an outright rejection, was received. These Forces are a direct threat to the sacred Mustard producing City of Dijon and in the interests of Peace Upon Earth should be withdrawn.

                            Cardinal Pecher,
                            Archbishop of Faverges.

Quinns, I have no objection to the 'Rating' of LC but feel that it is really only appropriate if all Players in the Game agree to participate or it will distort the figures. So if it's yes from all then OK, otherwise no.

                            Jon.

                              Greetings Brother Jon,

Our agreement was the land border stretching from Tours to Rennes - nothing was mentioned about the land on the other side of the sea... I have been very open with you with map exchanges and advances - really if you had had a query at all about our border agreement, I fail to see why you didn't mention it earlier when my Pikeman and your Phalanx were doing the Tango just West of our current 'bone of contention'? Or for that matter the fact why you have neglected to be concerned about several cities of mine - all of which are N. of Faverges...

The fact is that I have claimed previously unclaimed territory so there should be no grounds for dispute.

I apologise for not having replied sooner, however urgent matters of state precluded my prompt reply...

You have by the fastest carrier pigeon Spain's official response and a fair border proposal to repair our cordial relations!

                              Great Breaker of the Australians,

Indeed I did not know that we now share city borders...! I see no city within at least 5 leagues of Ponteverda - as I prove to you when I present to you a document bearing my border proposals! If you wish, I could prove it to the other World leaders by circulating this document to them also???

Could this be a legend of some mythical city of your ancestors - lost for all eternity?

Of course I am peaceful - I merely ask that you reveal the locations of your cities so that I may know where not to expand... With respect, the heart of your territory seems bereft of any Australians save the odd wandering phalanx or diplomat.

Finally there is no Slaver in your forest (though there is one in mine!), and following the ruthless manner in which you despatched the Incan slaver who accidentally strayed onto your lands without warning - I doubt very much whether he would be inclined to venture forth into your lands!

Indeed he must be searching for escaped heretics, as our slavers only enslave those who trespass on our lands...
