@Uno: Having read the thread about screenshots, in the general demo forum, I was curious as to why you prefer to have the ability to trade them before Paper? It seems to me that it would be more fun if we stuck to the game timeline for the ability to trade maps.

I would have PMed you about this, but then I thought the team should perhaps have a say in it too.

    Not trading maps. Trading screenshots.

It simply saves ALLOT of time for two teams to send each other a screenie with a line on it to indicate a border than to sit in a chat arguing whether the border is 8-8-7-7-4 of city X or 8-8-7-7-7.

Plus it will aid immensly with our discussions on where to sent troops.

So, can we trade screenshots before we actually encounter other civs in the game?

        I would be against that.

Ok, I was worried that allowing civs to trade screenshots whenever could imply even before they met.

What about trading screenshots of other civs' locations?

If Civs decide to, it's one of those things that can't be policed. It would be no different than telling them to 'hey, you should move in a northerly fashion' which would not be against the rules at present anyway. Again it just makes that discussion easier.

That could be a useful service for Team Merc to provide to other teams.

the concept of allowing trading of screen shots started in Civ III ISDG, where teams found that having a screen shot of their location allow them to negotiate boundaries easier.

Before that, teams would descibe their tiles by co-ordinates or use hand-drawn map. So, it's not really giving out "additional" information, just making life easier.

Teams are not allowed to exchange screenshots, and for that matter contact another team if they have not met them in game.
