  • Turn 49 : 2080 BC

    nothing really important happened...
    • continued granary in Being while we're still below the happiness limit (although focus=food).
      1 turn left before growth
    • continued the axeman in RNG Temple (aka Tassagrad)
4 turns left before completion (we should switch to barracks just before it is completed)
    • moved worker to one of the floodplains to start a road
3 turns left before it's built
    • left our scout untouched to heal. current health = 0.7/1
turns left for full healt : no idea, maybe 3?

I'll send the turn on, then do screenshots and foreign intelligence (I guess I still have to do foreign intelligence for the previous turn).

        next short-term things to decide:

in Being, after our growth (=after next turn), and while unhappy (= +/- 5 turns), Maniac says we should build either a settler or worker so our unhappy citizen will feed himself. After the unhappiness is gone, we can continue to work normally on the granary for 1 turn with the now-happy fifth citizen on a mine, after which we can poprush the granary with our emotionally-labile miner.

If we choose a settler, it will be done ~50/100 when we switch back to granary.
If we choose a worker, it will be done ~50/60 when we switch back to granary.

Our current worker needs to finish a pasture and 4 road tiles towards the bananas. That's about 16 turns of work queued up for it, without real new work afterwards without a third city. If we start a settler, we'll be able to found our third city just a few turns before our current worker runs out of urgent jobs. Therefore, my vote goes to settler.

Btw, how can you switch back to a production already underway?

It would probably be better to poprush our settler, so that our population can start regrowing asap.

I'm not sure I understand the "feeding himself" thing, ut out of worker or settler I agree we need the settler. 4 turns until iron working, so hopefully we'll have somewhere useful to send him. Shame we won't have our scout much further by then to see the blackness, but you can't have everything

              Wanted to ask the same.

An angry citizen wants to get away from city, so his consumed food goes into settler production..

An item doesn't need to be in the queue to retain its accumulated hammers. Thus, the items in the queue can be shuffled any which way without a problem.

When you build a settler or worker with unhappy people in a city, each unhappy person contributes two food to the city's total production, effectively feeding itself. I wonder if, in mods that tinker with food mechanics, there might be a way to exploit this...

I'm for a settler as well.

And I'd say that we rush the granary first.

                    I second that.
                    Two reasons:
                    - we'll be able to grow quickly after settler finished
                    - we'll be exploiting the +2h from angry citizen longer.

What do you 2 mean with "rush the granary first" ? First, as in before *what* ?

                      a) Before even starting on the settler, ie: while we are still in an unhappy state ??

                      b) In response to Maniac's "poprush the settler" statement ?

This one, because as it seems, we won't be poprushing both - the second will be finished by ordinary means.

I also wrote before on how much hammers it should be rushed, though you probably know it yourself from that handy Blake's spreadsheet.

Granary is 60 hammers, that means we need to rush it when it's <30/60 completed but as close as possible to it.
It looks like we will need to switch away from granary in favour of settler, next turn (or the turn after that - Im unaware of hammers accumulated and can't check atm).
Then wait until our angry people pacify, switch back, whip and finish the settler in a few turns.
