Couple of naming things this turn: city and skirm.

I like Taz City for the city, but then I came up with it.
Other notables included Dustdevil and Sandstorm, iirc.

Next footballer for the Skirmisher? (Nothing against the Schumacher suggestion - I would just like to stick to this theme for the Skirms.)

My knowledge of footballer names is weak (outdated, mostly). Those that spring to mind (for whatever odd reason):

      Giggs (Ryan)
      Shearer (Alan)

and, my personal favorite, former manager of Southampton:

Gordan Strachen, one of the least intelligible english-speaking men on the planet.

What about a name for everyone?

        Next Skirm: Vinnie Jones...

Yeah, Vinnie Jones is a good one.

Harald Schumacher was a footballer - a German goalkeeper who committed one of the worst fouls ever - on Frenchman Battiston in 1998.

          Other candidates :

          Maradonna
          Simeone

Nat Lofthouse was a famously dirty player from days of yore who used to bundle goalkeepers into the net while they were holding the ball, and get awarded the goal.

I can't contribute anything to the team in Civ terms at the moment as I don't play it, and was never that good anyway, but I can at least help come up with names of footballing bad-boys, hard men, or just players who did famous fouls. I have a few incidents in mind where I can't remember the players involved, but I'll dig the names up eventually. I'll try and come up with international players too - English ones would be too easy and parochial.

Shearer did use his elbows a lot, and pulled a few tricks where he could foul the opponent and win the free kick himself, but I don't feel that he or Giggs are quite notorious enough for our names at this stage.

Gordon Strachan - it's funny you should mention him. He is a great character as a manager, with some excellent off-the-wall interview quotes.

Journo : "Gordon, can I have a quick word?"
            Strachan : "Velocity"

Now that's pretentious ! Yes the GS unit names are very exclusive.

                (Don't mind me...)

                Now onto serious business.

I second Taz as a city name, then again Winestrom was mine but if no-one else voices an opinion what else are we to do? :P (Funny story, In a succession game I placed a couple of descriptive signs at potential city sites - one with the name Flipper, the other Crapper. Sure enough, we ended up with a city called Crapper. *sigh* why me)

To return to seriousness, at Winestrom we probably want to invest in the granary next. Once it gets whipped the overflow will go to something useful (it's basically banking hammers towards a non-predetermined build). We could also invest in an Axeman but I'd really prefer that we get that Granary ASAP meaning we should avoid getting in a situation where we have to get a unit from any city other than EotS.

                  Oh, that Schumacher

Rather have another cool foreign name than just have loads of English ones.

                    Re: Turn 69, 1280BC

Top post updated, team input needed.

                    Spinebreaker: 2/2 8/10 Exp (W2). Move 6

Worker I: Cottage complete, now ?
Another cottage for EotS doesn't do us any good at the moment, but would allow it to grow if we slowed down the production. Alternatively we could move 9 and then next turn move 9 again and start a cottage for Taz.

                    Winestrom (Size 1)
Production (16/turn): Skirmisher whipped (25/25), start Granary?
With the excess production, another option would be a Skirm in just 9 turns. I'll go with Blake on the granary if no dissenting opinion.

                    Taz City (Size 1)
                    WF: 2
                    Growth (3/turn): 0/24 (8 turns)
                    Production (1/turn): start ?
We start another Skirmisher here according to Blake's original plan - okay?

                    Schumacher: 4/4 0/2 Exp. ???
Do we want to Fort in Winestrom, or move to the hill? A good case was made for the hill - if there's no other opinions or objection, that's what we'll do.

The Winestrom granary looks good, though if we wanted to hedge against more Voxian archers, moving to the plains forest would let us squeeze a 4-turn skirmisher in first, while backing growth from 2 turns to 5 (if we moved back to the farm as soon as the skirm was done). Just food for thought.

The hill works, as we'd have enough warning to move back into Winestrom if needed. The only thing that somewhat concerns me is their archer moving toward Taz and getting us into an unfavorable position to kill it due to the rivers, but our axeman from EotS should be in play by then.

I second the Taz cottage, since that should finish the turn before it grows.

Quick question, HM. In Winestrom, why am I seeing 14/22 food in the save and you 13/24? I'm also showing a foodbox of 22 in Taz. Is there some patch issue I need to resolve?

Ah, sorry - the /24 is for size 2, which I forgot to change after whipping, and got copied into Taz. Then I also forgot to double check the expected food figures.

                            Thanks!
