  • Reminder: the Game Save and Playing Ahead

I'd like to take this moment to make another polite reminder to all teams about a "metagame" rule and an explicit interpretation of it. This rule is particularly important to understand if you're a newer gamer who wants to play the save along with the team, but aren't aware of the specific rules affecting that.

    The general rule:
You should not play ahead or abuse the game save in any way.

The specific interpretation I apply to this rule:
Under no circumstances should a player take any actions in a turn, including but not limited to moving a unit, building a city, or ending the turn. that are irrevocable (as opposed to moving a WF from one square to another, which is easily reversible within the rules) without that action being the correct and accurate action of the team as a whole. Any other action is explicitly forbidden. If a player accidentally takes such an action, that player MUST immediately cease playing the turn and may not communicate in any way with other team members about that particularl turn, and must take any and all action to ensure no information that might affect future turns is communicated.

Basically, don't do anything upon opening the save except "reversible" actions such as moving around the WFs (that's the "workforce", or the population of a city that's getting you food or hammers or trade). Don't move units, don't build a city, don't start roading, don't hit end turn.

If there are any questions about this, please post them here.
