  • Advice for list newbies

This forum is organised to provide a list of suggestions for CivilisationIII, to be sent to Brian Reynolds at Firaxis.

It is organised by two teams, firstly the moderators, Yin26 and Shining1 (me), who's job it is to keep general order in the threads and to compile the suggestions when finally collected from the threads. We can be contacted at the address civ3list@hotmail.com

The other team is the Thread Managers, who do the bulk of the work for the list, taking down suggestions posted in their topic threads and turning those suggestions into a readily readable summary. They do this work in their own time, free of charge, and are always ready to listen to your opinions - that's what they are here for.

Please post any and all suggestions under the appropriate thread. There are several reasons for this, but most notably it greatly increases your chances of Brian actually reading your suggestion, and it keeps the forum in a relatively well organised state (so you can find the topics to start with!)

Please do NOT post new threads containing, for instance, a single suggestion that would fit nicely into one of the established threads. These threads will be locked without further notice, as they serve no purpose towards the list - you cannot expect a thread manager to find and include these suggestions in their summary, and they make the forum disorganised.

    Thank you for reading this.

    Shining1

And in a few weeks, only TMs will be allowed to post new threads here anyway, which will take care of this problem (of course anybody can reply in the threads).

Just a reminder: We will base the limited thread posting status on the TMs who actually check-in at the "Deadline" thread.

        Hey YinShining...

When is the "only TM's can post new topics" going into effect, and until then, should we keep bumping this thread up?

          techno:

We had hoped, of course, to have all thing nice and tidy by the beginning of this month. But things get delayed, people leave, etc. I'm thinking that we should shoot for the end of this month/the start of October for cleaning everything up.

We'll also be sending info to major on-line sites about the list, which will hopefully bring in some new people.

I guess that means it falls on the rest of us to bite our tongues and not reply when someone does start a new one-idea thread too... I'm afraid I'm guilty of responding to threads I know really shouldn't be there, so I shall take this as a wrist-slapping and not do it again!

              bump.

Somebody just posted a new topic, so I felt the need to do this.

oh sorry didn't see this thread when I posted. Perhaps you should have a thread where people can post anything, including suggestions for new threads. Otherwise people are just going to hijack other threads when they can't find an appropriate one.

                  Glak,

                  No problem.

Actually, the general forum is for that purpose, but the real problem is we are are trying to switch to a system whereby only the thread managers (TMs) can post new topics here. That would make it a lot easier for everybody. I'm waiting another 2 weeks to implement that.

Assuming we will continue with a version 3, though, we'll get in better shape. Thanks for joining in. The more ideas the better.

Well, I did look at the categories, and I don't believe I saw the AI thread at that time. Maybe no one had had any AIdeas for 10 days...?

                        Yin,
I thought it was possible to move a thread to another forum, i.e., the Suggestions forum. I know Mark and Dan have moved threads from the General Civ2 forum to Off-Topic on occasion.
