  • If Firaxis is kind enough...

As civ1 is no longer making money for the company, I wonder if Firaxis could include civ1 in civ3, as an bonus item.

I know it may involve some copyright issues and company policies, and may be quite unfeasible.

Just a little dream for me.

I believe there was much discussion on this, and I for one would love to see a civ 1 included in civ 3

Firaxis has allwas sad that they want to have a proto as soon as possible. I would like to be able to see what they saw in early development and then compare it to the final product.

Well, Civ 1 is aviable on the internet now, in both Dos and Windows version, in example here:

I think thats enough, we don't need it on the CD.

          Good idea!
if not a working demo I'll love to have some "behind the scene" material: an history of main milestones of the project, early artwork, some list of features that missed the final draft, some nice/weird ideas (from team or from fans forums) that where considered but rejected because can't fit properly into the SID Civ "vision"...

When so many people support a game concept for a long time, the project "as is" is something live: I would enjoy to see some of its early breath

BTW, looking at released picture I noticed Sid name will still be in capitol letter up the Civilization title: shouldn't he share a bit of glory with way more people inside his team and fans community?

Naismith's 'behind the scenes' detail are a better idea than including CivI in the pack, as it may require an extra CD, and thus .49 cents more cost to each game package, not to mention the packaging at .5-.10 cents.

Why the crap do you guys want civ-1 in civ-3 packet?

It doesnt make sense, when you buy civ-3, youll then have civ-1, but you will never play civ-1 (at least for a very long time) cause youll be busy with civ-3!!

although it wouldnt be bad to have civ-1, Ive never played it, always been playin civ2.

                Hahah...

Whoa. I actually agree with Diablo for once..

If Civ 3's worth the money we'll pay, then there'll be little reason to go back to Civ 1 except to quickly sigh, before booting Civ 3 back up.

Nik - that site didn't work for me. Do you know of another place I can get it? (I'll be your best friend )

Keep dreaming about Civ2's source being released. Civ2, in it various forms (MGE, TOT) is still selling quite nicely, and churns in cash for whoever owns Microprose nowadays. Not like they're gonna give away a nice money maker.

As for seeing either 1 or 2 included in Civ3, it's not very likely to happen. Although I believe both Microprose and Firaxis are under the same publisher now (I forget the name), clearing the licensing issues might still be too much trouble for Firaxis to try and push it. But, hey, you never no...
