I just signed a new permanent contract deal... for 5 years at a great rate, with one of my favorite companies I've worked at... so I'm kind of in the same boat too.

Well there was the small matter of Germany offering large chunks of American territory to Mexico should they enter the war on the German side. See the Zimmerman telegrams.

Anyway that should be OT. If you want to debate the merits of US interventionism it has little to do with how civ3 turns out.

I think that the game should get a total make-over, it has to offer something new. And a much improved AI. I've been playing Civ I and II since 1992, and loved it, but the concept should now be taken further. (Now let's hope that nobody will check all my previous posts to see if I did indeed announce that I bought Civ I&II).
I remember playing Civ I on an old 286, with a 20 MB harddisk. With the advancement in computer technology, they really can't get away with just a cosmetically improved ten year old game.
But it must, and that is a definite must, also retain that elusive Civ feeling. Which CtP totally lacked. It had plenty of fancy graphics and novel ideas, but it just didn't feel right.
