  • units attack strength

I have just played my first game of ciiv 3, and, apart from the 'wonderless wonders' and lack of governments, some things just do not seem right. I won't bother to list all my little gripes right now. But one has to be mentioned, how come my powerful units get killed quite easily by the AI. Is this going back to the old complaints about destroyers being defeated by warriers???

I played as England, the so-called special unit is the man-o-war. I thought this would kick ass like the Ship-of-the-line in CTP. Boy was i wrong, firstly their bombard function is pretty toothless. Their movement is no great shakes. But in battle they really suck, I had two attack a lowly caravel. The first went down, the second won but only just it had to go in for major repairs. I had a musketeer in one of my cities, this I considered to be a safe city, as the AI was well behind. Admittedly the city had no walls. Then two Zulu warriors turned up this should have been no prob for a battalion of musketeers. I mean those warriors were only armed with axes, even two of them should be defeated by a musketeer. Then musketeer was also in the city. My city fell, what a bummer. They must have attacked morning after one of the queens celebrations , when my musketeers were still a little drowsy, some had not even left the whorehouse yet. The ale was good in those days.

At least it is not just me:

I think my intercepted jets have downed piston fighters exactly once. But I've lost about five jets so far- Barchan

i saw how a cruise missile was shot by the archer-LaRusso
